I had surgery on my big toe because the bone calcified and I had no movement in my toe, they had to go in and clean out the joints so I could walk without pain. I wore a low boot for 10 weeks, the first 6 weeks I was very restricted in walking (the first week I wasn't supposed to walk at all except to go to the bathroom.) The little boot thing wasn't bad, I had my daughters polish my 3 toe nails that were sticking out from the wrapping. The worst was not being able to get it wet at all. I had to take a shower backwards and stick my foot outside the shower curtain.
Then when I broke that same foot 4 months later I ended up with a walking cast on it. ( I did a full bone break and a hairline fracture). I called it the Frankenstein boot and I hated it! It was heavy, it threw me off balance cause it was higher than my shoes. Walking in it was a big pain.
