Few questions.......(kids are 3&5)

If we are NOT on the DDP, can kids split kids meals? Or can they split an adult appetizer or entree? Or can anyone split anything, lol??

For those of you who had the DlxDDP and toddlers, how much food is left behind? We plan on doing at least 2 TS meals per day and I don't want to send half of the food back if they're not hungry.

Did your kids really eat that much while at the parks? I'm thinking they're going to be so excited and worked up that they won't be eating much. Or it will be the opposite; they will be famished by meal time from all of the activity. What were your experiences?

TIA!! Heidi.

While I don't have much experience with toddlers (being single and childless), hopefully I can answer the other questions.

1)If we are NOT on the DDP, can kids split kids meals?
2) Or can they split an adult appetizer or entree?
3)Or can anyone split anything, lol??
First off, much of it depends on the restaurant, so your mileage may vary slightly, however from reading reports on these boards:
1) Yes (and they can usually split on the DDP as well)
2) Yup
3) Pretty much
:)

As mentioned, it's mostly up to the restaurant at the time, but splitting does happen quite often. Some times they'll even split it in the kitchen for you as well, rather than just bringing an extra plate.

Thank you! I think splitting may be the way to go. I will FREAK OUT if my three year old has to order an $8 meal and takes two bites of it.

Not sure about your first questions as we were on the DxDP. But my kids actually ate more than usual while we were there. They did skip an appy and dessert here there but for the most part, they ate everything on their plate. Also, DS slept through alot of our lunches so we had his food boxed to go and he always ate it and then some when he woke up. It worked really well for them and we feel as if we got our monies worth for both.

Our kids are a little older but they had better than usual appetites while at Disney and even when our smallest eater diden't eat all of it we felt that her having her own meal that she actually enjoyed and wanted to eat was very helpful. I can say that for the most part the kids portions are fairly small so the extra food on the Dx DP should go to good use if eighter of your kids are big eaters.

I think for kids the value of adding Dxddp is wonderful. It is only a few dollars more per day for kids, so I don't feel like I waste money if for one meal they are not that hungry. My DD is not a big eater, but at Disney she seemed to do pretty well. My son is a great eater and enjoyed eating at the signature dinning so he could get something other than chicken fingers and pizza. Overall, I think there were days when they were really hungry and other days they were not, just like at home.

If you are thinking of 2 ts a day, I would recommend the deluxe plan because you really are paying for the adults upgrade, not so much for the kids.

Interesting thread! One thing I noticed as I was pricing out options for my upcoming trip with my three year old is that lot of the TS places I want to go to are 1 credit buffets, so adding the Deluxe Dining Plan wouldn't really "save" me much. Although we might still do it anyway! :rotfl: It would mean not paying for much of anything while we're there.
