Hello everyone! I have a few questions for you Disney vets! First of all, my girlfriend and I just moved to Florida (yay) and my best friend, her fiancé and their 2 year old son are coming down to visit for the baby's birthday. I want to take them to Disney to celebrate his birthday. We are going just for the day...my question is....Animal Kingdom OR Magic Kingdom? He loves animals but the Magic Kingdom is so iconic but I think he may be too little to appreciate it's beauty. Any suggestions?

My next question is, since my girlfriend and I are now AP holders -- can we get my friends discounted tickets? I read somewhere that FL AP holders can buy non-resident tickets at a discounted price. Thanks in advance!

1. I can't imagine not going to MK with a toddler. I don't think they're looking to appreciate a park's beauty (unless they're the next coming of Rembrandt).

2. No such AP perk, sorry.

I just think he would appreciate the Magic Kingdom when he's a bit older -- not saying there isn't anything for toddlers to do at MK, I just think we would all have more fun together at Animal Kingdom. I don't know, I could be wrong.

Nobody here can answer this for you. The answer is one only your family can decide. I merely shot down one of your stated criteria. I'll go even further and state that any 2yo won't care. ;)

I know it's a decision only we can make....I just don't have children and have never been to Disney with a 2 year old. Was hoping people could let me know where he could do the most things.

What rides can he go on at Magic Kingdom (or if someone could direct me to age/height requirements for rides) please?

Thanks!

Okay different question now, your earlier one was more of a "which will he like more" thing. He can do the most things at MK. He can do anything without a height requirement--see the Planning link in the dark blue bar near the top of the page and then click "Height Requirements", putting in the lowest possible height setting (or his actual height).

I took my kids at a young age to Disney. Magic Kingdom by far was the best park for my 1-3 year olds.

I like animal kingdom but think magic kingdom is better for the average toddler.

The thing about little kids is they don't know what they don't know... If you will have a better time at AK, take him! My little guy loves the AK. He also loves MK. Heck, it's Disney World, what's not to love.
What time of year are you going? Summer at the MK is... Painful.

We will be there early September. We have decided to go to Magic Kingdom and for him to see animals we decided to go to Sea World!

100% Magic Kingdom. There is so much more to do with a 2yr old. My daughters first trip was when she was 2 :goodvibes:goodvibes!! It is a fun age of exploration and before the terrible three's begin!!

The 2yr old can ride most everything at MK and the characters can also be a big hit (not always , some shy away and wont want to approach but will love looking at them!)

THIS!!!!!

My DD loved animals, too, but when we went when she was 2, AK was probably her least fave.

MK all the way, no hesitation. For sure. ;)

We took my 2-year-old niece last year and AK was her favorite with MK a close second. Took her and her sister again this year at ages 3 and 1, and they loved AK most again. I think it comes down to how much they love animals. Oddly enough, though, Nemo is her favorite ride. Go figure.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I have convinced his mom that we should go to Magic Kingdom! I wonder if he would be scared of Haunted Mansion (I don't think there is a heigh requirement on there) hmmmm...if there isn't...would he be allowed to sit on one of our laps?

The Doom Buggies have lap bars that come down and lock in place over the lap. So the lap of an adult is not free to place a child on.

Thank you. I didn't think our laps would be a chair, but I was just confirming. I just can't picture him on the ride sitting by himself, he's so little! Goodness they grow up so quickly!

The Doom Buggie is wide enough for two adults to sit very comfortably with a child seated snug and safe in between. Google an image of the Haunted Mansion buggies.

No lap sitting allowed as far as I'm aware

We always let the bar close, then we pick the toddlers up and put them in our laps (still under the bar, of course). There's usually plenty of room. Granted, we're not large people or anything, but the CMs have never said a word to us. We lap sit on all those types of rides: Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, etc. I've never really even thought about it being a possible problem, and no one has said anything to us, so I'm assuming it's allowed. I'll stop if a CM ever tells us otherwise, but so far no one has.
