toddler wearing

Thanks for the suggestions... and OP - Thanks for letting me piggyback here.
I think I'm going to start a thread... I started doing some researching based on all the great tips from you mommies, and I have a TON more questions!

Not sure if it's been suggested or if it would work, but my DH had a Kelty backpack for both of our DS' when they were small (I think it held up to 40 lbs), and we used it twice at WDW with the youngest. It had a 5-pt harness in it as well.

We sold it on ebay awhile back, but you could probably search there for Kelty Kid carrier or something similar to get an idea. DH never had any problem using it (he took it hiking and other things), he said the weight rested on his hips instead of his back like you would think. We left it with the strollers when we went on rides and never had a problem.

My favorite hands down for a newborn is a Kangaroo Korner Adjustable Fleece Pouch. Ds rode in his from 3 days to 18 months old! It was so easy to use and a dream for running errands in the care (just kept the pouch on and popped him in and out!).

I still use my beloved Babyhawk Mei Tai. Dh has been most comfortable using the pouch and the mei tai and is equally likely to use a carrier for ds when we are all out and about as I am! :woohoo:

Jealous!

I really wanted one of those pouches, but DS arrived in May and we sweated together until about December, LOL. I never ran "hot" before, but for about 2 years after he arrived I was much hotter than usual. He's always warm and so I knew that the combination was not going to allow a fleece pouch. :(

Always wanted a babyhawk, went back and forth between that and the Ergo for way too long, but ultimately just got the Ergo. If DS had been younger when I was making that choice I would have gotten the babyhawk (IF I could have possibly made up my mind!!!), probably. :)

I would take an Ergo or other ssc. You will get a ton of use out of it. It will be hot and I would not want to carry him 100% of the time while you are there but at his age he is not likely to want to be carried 100% of the time. You don't want to risk heat problems for either of you but as long as you are careful and watch both of you, you are fine. A babycarrier is worth it's weight in gold while standing in line!!!!

When my ds was 20 mos we took our Beco. He spent about 75% of his time in there. But, it was Novemeber and the weather was perfect! In August, total different story. You will both need "cool off times" but I think you will get plenty of use out of a carrier.
