While you can walk to DHS - I don't think I would...it's a good 10-15 minute hike, and my vote would be for the boat there and back! (Only one stop after BCV!)
We always do TSMM twice on our DHS day - once at RD and once with FP. (We have in the olden FP- days done it THREE times in a day without waiting in line.) It is a huge favorite with DD and DW, and I always come off of it sore (in my shoulder) and laughing.
One secret of rope drop at DHS now is they don't actually DO a rope drop. They just start letting people in through the gates at about 8:45 AM, they use the gates themselves to temper the crowds. At that point, you can go right to TSMM and ride it without being caught in a stampede. Usually we are actually getting off the ride about 9:05 AM. (we'll be at DHS the day before you for morning EMH - actually plan on doing TSMM twice for EMH!)
I'm actually really looking forward to the Frozen Fireworks. Not a HUGE Frozen fan (liked the movie but not fanatical), but I've never seen fireworks inside DHS - so that to me will be a real treat, even if it means listening to "Let it Go" for the 250,000th time.
We've done Characterpalooza a few times, but I heard the same thing that they've tried to randomize it to a degree. That sort of sucks, because I'm not going to wander around the park looking for it.
One GREAT place for a stroller nap - One Man's Dream. If you are into Disney history at all, the displays are really great and there's a 15 minute movie that's in the dark and air conditioned. It might not just be the kids taking a nap! I don't know for sure if they let you bring in your stroller though - so maybe its not that great a suggestion.
I don't know how you are going to eat lunch at 50's Prime Time and then eat again at 4:30 for Mama Melrose. There's a lot of very hearty meals there! Last time I just had a salad (and a milkshake) because we were heading to Yachtsmen later that night. (Which by coincidence we will also be doing the night you are at Mama Melrose!)
