Toddler on Pirates?

Oldest DD rode Pirates at 8 months, 18 months, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2. At 8 months and 18 months she was fine, no issues at all. At 2 1/2 there was a brief bit of crying after the hill but she was engaged in everything else that was going on and soon forgot about the hill. At 3 1/2 we tried to prepare DD by explaining that it would be dark and we would go down a small hill, but she was still scared by it and refused to ride after the first go round.

Youngest DD has ridden at 3 months and 15 months. She did fine both trips.

I guess my experience is that you don't have to deal with fears until they're a little older :)

Unless something changes between now and October (which is possible -- there's a big difference between 26 months and 34 months), I highly doubt DD will go on it.

She's just SO timid! Any new situation, she's on my lap, curled into a ball & refuses to lift her head to look at anything. She's not terribly afraid of the dark, but that's only in situations she's comfortable in (like going into her bedroom in the evening).

I'm going to bring a glow stick or small flashlight for her to hold & hope for the best (but plan to sit outside w/ her and wait). She'll have me & her daddy, plus her grandparents & aunt and uncle with her so I'm hoping we'll all be able to convince her that it's fun.

Has anyone let their 4 year old ride ToT and how did it go?

We took DS at 4 on California's TOT, and while he liked the *ride*, he hated the building and the storyline. DH went on WDW's version and said that the particular effect they have in CA (you see the car's occupants in a mirror, lightning zaps you, there's a blue effect, and you disappear) isn't at WDW's version, but there are other aspects to the ride that are a bit creepy. DS wouldn't go on again when he was 4, and has refused it since. He absolutely refused to go on at 6 at WDW, again, not because of the drop, but because of the storyline.

Heck, we were watching the Samantha Brown show, and she went into the TOT queue, and DS left the room. Just can't handle the idea!

But other kids are just fine. You never really know until you're there experiencing it, unfortunately...
