I'm looking for a good restaurant outside of the parks for a dinner one night, and the menu on AllEars for Todd English's bluezoo at the Dolphin looks fabulous. Can anyone tell me how it is? Is it really good seafood, or is it overpriced?

I SO want to try this place. I have read reviews and it sounds amazing! I have not heard a bad thing about it yet.

It is very good, the atmosphere is wonderful, very beautiful inside, especially as the sunsets. The place just glows blue, like you are under water.

Food fantastic, service fantastic and a wonderful wine list. They don't rush you, you just kick back and relax. Hubby and I really enjoyed it, we would definately go back again.

We were very anxious to try Blue Zoo and it met up to our expectations. The food was fabulous, including the sea food. Although it was expensive, I don't think that it was overpriced.

I really splurged and got the fresh seafood platter - I still have dreams about it!!!!

We'll be going there definitely on our next WDW trip in 2007.

Been there twice, most recently in February. It is a beautiful restaurant and the service is top notch. The seafood dishes are good, but not as good as Flying Fish. On the other hand, the desserts are some of the best I've had anywhere (I believe the dessert chef won some international competition a few years back). Finally, it's hard to be romantic when there are lots, and I mean lots, of expense account businessmen and women dining. They're real easy to spot - they're the ones in very large groups ordering the tiered raw seafood appetizer.

No one has mentioned the FABULOUS martini's. Can't wait to go back in Aug. I drool over the cable car. :drinking1

Blue Zoo is our favorite restaurant at WDW. It's fabulous - the food, the service and no, it's not overpriced. It's no more $$ than the other nicer restaurants at Disney. Seafood...fabulous. Even the steak, fabulous. Shake n Bake Fries, to die for. Great desserts. Great sides. Love the green beans. Wonderful wine selection. And, the service is outstanding. It's a must-do for us every trip.

BlueZoo is our new Favorite. Best meal I've ever had at WDW. I find the atmosphere very sexy, chic. When DH & I were there, it was very romantic. Maybe it was our frame of mind, but romantic none the less....

I couldn't find my review when I did a search, but I had it saved in a word format anyways - Here's my review of our experience there in Dec 2005.

Dinner at the BlueZoo, 12/3/2005

I still have to compile my thoughts to do a full Dining Report. But until then, I wanted to do an individual report on Todd English's BlueZoo in the Dolphin. This has become our very Favorite, Must-Do WDW dining experience. Impeccable!

We arrived a few minutes early for our 7:15pm ressie. We were promptly seated in a gorgeous, round booth in a secluded area of the dining room. Even tho we were somewhat secluded, we still had a splendid view of part of the kitchen & the Dancing Fish rotisserie. Our booth was complete with pillow & candle. Perfect for an adult evening alone together. The restaurant itself is just spectacular. We loved the modern styling. As we both work with metal, we were quite enamored of the brass hoods above the kitchen area.

Our server came promptly & explained a bit about the menu and the restaurant itself. She was very personable & knowledgeable. We started off with our non-alcoholic drinks & water service (this is a necessary touch in Orlando IMHO. Bottled water, kept in an Ice Bucket so you can enjoy clean, clear water that hasn't been destroyed by WDW swamp ice)

DH & I had originally planned to eat Tapas style. But as soon as or server told us about the 2 pound Cantonese style Lobster, plans changed somewhat. We did start out splittling 3 appetizers.

We had a roasted beet salad with creamy goat cheese, candied walnuts & focaccia croutons. The greens were lightly dressed & fresh. The yellow beets were delicious. Both DH & I agreed that we didn't care for whatever marinade was used on the red beets. However, we still enjoyed the rest of the salad.

We also split the Littleneck Clams Flatbread. This is too die for! We love Clams Casino Pizza in Hartford CT when we are down to visit DH's son there. This was reminiscent of that glorious pizza, but only better.

The third & best appetizer we shared was the Garlic Roasted Shrimp with a Creamy Polenta & wilted Fennel. This dish was absolutley divine beyond words. There were 3 large & luscious shrimp, cooked to perfection, without a hint of rubberiness that so often happens when your shrimp is overcooked. The roast garlic flavor was subtle & sublime. I could have stopped right there & been in heaven.

I do want to mention in particular the Bread Basket. This deserves to be described as much as any first course. The basket comes artfully arranged with a Parmesan crusted Lavosh, a sunflower seed studded whole grain bread and squares of tender onion focaccia. The bread is served with a delightful toasted fennel seed butter. The fennel seed butter was so divine, one of the first things I did when we got home was strive to recreate it (I think I got it!)

On to the main course - The Two Pound Cantonese style Lobster. The Lobster comes cleaned & shelled, then lightly coated in a Tempura type batter and fried. It is then tossed with a sticky, slightly sweet soy glaze. This is composed on a square of sushi rice and some stir-fried vegetables. The presentation of this dish is stunning. The lobster was cooked to perfection. Melt in your mouth delicious. To be honest, it was not my favorite way to eat lobster. I am a New England Boiled Lobster kind of gal. But DH was in Heaven. The dish was perfectly prepared and presented.

After all that delicious food, we had no room for dessert. We vowed to try & make it back for a late night dessert before we left WDW, but our plans never did pan out. My 17 yo DS did make it back for the Garlic Roasted Shrimp and a White Chocolate Mousse cake that he deemed Delicious.

Every moment of our evening at BlueZoo was perfect. We loved the atmosphere. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Our food was all cooked perfectly. The flavors all married harmoniously. The menu was so impressive that it was nearly impossible to choose (hence the splitting of 3 apps.) I would highly recommend BlueZoo as the Best on WDW property. I could make a trip to WDW for a weekend of Heavenly Beds & BlueZoo at the Dolphin, never step foot in the Parks & deem it a succcessful mission!

Thanks so much for posting these reviews! We'll be there Wednesday, May 3 at 7pm!
