MeanLaureen, I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea, I think it's a pretty cool idea. So, because of that, I think I might try my hand at a "useless history lesson." Little tid bits of history. I hope everyone enjoys.

Lesson #1

Today in 1765 Patrick Henry decounced the Stamp Act befroe Virginia's House of Burgesses, responding to a cry of "Treason!" by declaring, "If this be treason, make the most of it!"

in 1790, Rhode Island became the 13th state of the colony to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

Also, in 1906 T.H. White, author of The Once and Future King, was born.

In 1942, Jews living in Paris were forced to sew a yellow star on thier clothing.

At 11:30 a.m. on May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa of Nepal, become the first explorers to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

I love the History Channel!

Great Topic!

I love trivia like this. Today is also the birthday of John F. Kennedy.

It's also the birthday of a high school buddy of mine. I'll have to call him later.

A great idea for a thread - historical trivia - right up my street! ;)

29th May 1660 - The day that the king was restored to the throne of England, Scotland and Ireland as King Charles II.
