Today We Make History!

:cool1: :woohoo: :yay:  :cheer2: :dance3:

Sorry, I've been waiting a long time to say that.

HOORAY!

This morning as I was getting ready the song "We Shall Overcome" came to my head. I started singing it and crying. I am a white woman in my late 20s so I never experienced segregation, but I am just overcome with how far our society has come.

As one poster said, hope is in the air!

I am soooo excited and hopeful for you! Just wish I could have voted! :cool1: :cool1:

Tacky joke. I just had an image in my mind of someone trying to vote for Obama and their pen hovering above the ballot. Then suddenly the pen takes on a life of its own and votes McCain. So, the person angrily marches back over to the ballot table and asks for another ballot, insisting they were Bradley effected.

Well, I DID get your joke! I was watching a rerun of Jon Stewart's interview with Obama last night, and I really got a kick out of when Stewart was asking Obama about being bi-racial, and wondering if when he goes to vote his "white" genes might kick in and force him to vote for McCain due to the Bradley effect. :rotfl: Obama stated he had been practicing to make sure that would not happen. It was a funny moment!

:rotfl: I saw that too. It was hilarious when Obama said, "It could happen."

It's a beautiful day, don't let it slip away!!!
VOTE!!!!!

I have been voting for 18 years now. This is the most important election to me! I too am a white woman and I just feel like it is the day of breaking free from the typical white male president. We have had some great presidents don't get me wrong. But as a progressive country it is time to move on "out of the box." Whether Obama wins today or not it is Historic! It just proves our country is ready for a woman or a black (or input any color/nationality here) man/woman in the White House. Our country is so diverse and it is time that the White House has that diversity too!

I too am hoping to celebrate the election of our first atypical president! (Go Obama!)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm glad I'm not the only nervous eater!! popcorn:: :rotfl:

OMG!!!! I thought it was just me. I am sitting here with a bag of my DD's Cheetos and a can of cola - and I am just mindlessly eating......definately nerves! Going to big a long, but hopefully great day!!! (I can diet tomorrow!!!!):)

If you voted for Obama for the specific reason that he is black, then I have no respect for you.

People talk about "national maturity"...if it is immature to NOT for Obama because he is black then it is equally immature to vote for him because he IS black.

I guess this country has not come of age if this is the case.

Who said they did that?
