Today i had my appointment for the second opinion in Belgium.
Here is a link to the background story:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2597943
It was a 2 hour drive and we had a little trafic jam on our way over.
We wer stil on time and i had to register first when we arrived in the hospital.
After registration i had to go for the first tests (eye pressure and some other stuff).
After the tests i needed to wait to see a Doctor, it was an assistent doctor and she asked about my medical history and i told here the whole story of my eyes...
She took the time to understand everything perfect and that was comfertable, no rush.
Then they wanted to do a new endotheliacel count.
We had to wait a littlebit before the did the count but in the hospital they have free wifi so we enjoyed ourself with a bit of surfing on the internet.
When the test was done we went back to the car because we had payd for 2 hours parking and it was already 2 hours since we arrived.
We paid for another 2 hours hoping that would be enough for today.
Then we went back inside to meet the (real) Doctor.
We waited and waited (somehow that's inherent with Doctors and hospitals)
After one hour of waiting in a crowded waiting room we were called into the Doctors office.
She did some more tests and then she told me that she was strongly advising me not to do a preventive operation (take out my implanted lens, take out my own lens and then put an new implant lens).
Because so many things went wrong the last time when they did my right eye there is a risk that the same will happen when they operate my left eye and that the risk of messing up the left eye to is high.
She strongly advised just to wait what the cells will do, it's not said that they will drop further and it's not said that i will ever need a cornea transplant.
I was (we were) already very hesitant to go and do a preventive operation because everything that happened with my right eye.
But now after this visit after this second opinion i know (we know) that i'm not going to have an operation.
We are going to wait and see what will happen in the future.
That means that i will be having more visits to the eye doctor then normal, they are going to keep a close eye to my cell count and that means that i'm going to have a cell count at least every 6 months.
Ofcourse i'll keep y'all updated when there is some news.
