Today I love the IRS

The wait is now all over. I just got back from getting my taxes done at H&R Block and they were great. I'm getting a Federal refund of $3664 and an Illinois refund of $183 for a total of $3847 Apparently in the state of Illinois if you pay property taxes you get a 5% property tax credit which ended up getting me an extra $126. I didn't even realize there was such a credit for this. I thought I was only going to get $57 back from the state so this was a complete surprise.

We won't get ours till Feb. 7th. That's the date that's on the IRS website anyway. I've heard some local people saying they've gotten theirs back earlier than the site stated they would though.

We get a whopping $15 back from state I think, and something like $10 ($5.00 each) from local. We have 2 separate local taxes to file. Local tax is like 1% so we have to pay 1/2 % to one place and 1/2 % to the another. The sad thing is, our accountant couldn't file the 2nd local tax form because the borough hasn't yet decided on which form they want you to use. I couldn't believe it!

Thanks. I'm figuring that I won't get my returns (direct deposit) until Feb 15 or so. They say 8-15 for the fed and don't say anything about Illinois. In the past I have gotten my returns anywhere from 5 days after I file to 12-15 days after and I have always filled on 1/31.

I'm in pretty good shape right now because today was also payday so all my bills got taken care of, plus my upcoming vacation is taken care of. I'm really not in any kind of dire need of the money so when I get it I get it, no big deal.

they are direct deposited the friday BEFORE the date they say- if it says the 7th it will be this friday the 3rd.

Thanks Mudnuri. My hubby called the bank and she told him all deposits from the IRS have been on Friday's, so this is right in line with what you're saying.

thats what my bank said too when I called....and someone here had posted a link to a pdf at the irs with the deposit dates...
