You got your refund already? I'm still waiting on my W-2 and student loan interest paper.

Sadly, my refund will be used to pay off some bills. :( And next year I won't qualify for EIC so I won't have a big refund anymore. Bummer!

I'm still waiting on the loan interest info too. My state tax forms just became available yesterday. I'm amazed at how many people have been able to file all ready!
Don't feel bad about your refund going towards bills, Jules. Talk around here is how many of us are putting the refund money towards heating bills, gas cards, and paying off credit cards.

I'm living life on the edge - I'm buying some gas cards, putting some towards paying off our cruise, and I'm buying paint or bathroom tiles!

My federal is to be deposited on next Friday it states. So, I'll be loving  them next week. I haven't been able to file my state yet because there are some issues w/ some of the forms I need. So, I guess thats going to be another week or 2 before I can even get it out.

My federal is going to pay a few bills that we got a bit behind on over the holiday's. And I don't feel bad because we had a charge free holiday- the fee's only came to $5 on the bills total and they'll be paid off next week. I'm then 1/2 of whats left into savings and the other 1/2 is going towards a few day trip to either Chicago or D.C..

My state is going 100% towards my property taxes due by 4/1.

cool good for you! :)

We have all of our stuff but our accountant cant get us in until Wednesday :(

Oh well, it will be here soon.

Ours usually goes towards house stuff this year we are finishing off our side yard and getting new furntiture for the girls' room.

I'm still waiting on a W2 for DH. I haven't gotten my student loan interest statement yet, either, but was able to get the amount when I called.

We've not received DH's W-2, the statement from my son's university showing what is eligible for the tuition credit or the 1099 from the organization I do contract work for. I've eyeballed the taxes, though, and feel confident we'll get a combined refund from federal and state that will cover half the new transmission in our van -- in other words, not a huge amount of $. Not exciting but necessary in the near future.

I hope your not serious, but anyway its examples like these why I say the EIC is a load of :stir: If you can afford a Passat, I can't and don't qualify for EIC, you don't need any EIC.

Mine should be deposited next week. I rec'd my W-2 last friday and got my student loan interest statement online so I quickly filed last weekend. I'm trying to convince myself to save most of the money but I'll probably spend it on items for the house that's what happened last year. I'm trying to convince myself I should be better this time around. We will see!

Maybe its a used passat? Or maybe she saved alot for a downpayment, or maybe she's sacraficing other luxuries to own a car she wants? Or maybe none of the above, its really not our business anyway.
Or she could have no payment (Taken from the car payment thread.

mudinuri, enjoy your refund and get a kick *** stereo for your car. :)

OK, just looked up the Passat. Looks like the starting price is only $22,000. Not a very expensive car, IMO.

Does everyone get refunds? We always PAY PAY PAY. I'm always hopeful that this will be the year we'll get e refund, but it never is. :sad2:

Maybe I should just write a check directly to you guys...it might make me feel better :rolleyes2

I can't complain...I have what I need and then some..,.I just hate the April 15 time of year... :furious:

Wow! That's a great refund! We usually clear about $500-600 between state and federal. The whole amt usually goes to pay for our auto insurance (it is due every year on May 1, and that's usually a few weeks after we get the tax $$). I wish we could get a bit extra, but I'm okay with having enough for the insurance. We don't qualify for the EIC- I'm not sure I even understand what it is, since it never applies to us.

I also agree that the EIC is what you said lol. :stir: You should not get back more than you pay in.

I have a neighbor who makes sure she gets a W2 every year. She may work a month or 2 so she can file. Than she gets back 2-3 thousand at income tax time.

Earned Income Tax Credit -- a credit given to taxpayers whose income is below a certain limit (the income level essentially translates to the poverty line).

I haven't qualified for EIC in many years either. I do remember the last year I did though- I got back just shy of $6000-- which was almost triple what I had payed. I will be honest I never understood getting back more than you paid in. It would seem at best-you should only qualify for a full refud of what you paid.

This is ridiculous. I have a neighbor w/ 3 kids who does the same thing ~ except she usually only works for a 2-3 weeks. She gets back waaaay more than me ~ a hard working, tax paying mom of 2.

While I udnerstand the EIC is there to help & provide relief for some low-income families ~ it can be easily abused. (Not directed at the OP)

Or give somebody who knows how to play the system, and is doing just fine, a little bonus straight from other tax payers. EIC needs to go.
