Today I finally can pack!

Well it's finally here. My packing day. I wanted to start earlier but my in-laws are taking the kids today for 3 days!!!!! Now I can pack in peace. Plus WDW is a surprise trip for the kids (they just think we're going to US/IOA) so I can pack all thoses suprises without panicking. Now my closets will finally stop looking like the DIsney Store! We leave for the Philadelphia Airport Comfort Inn Wednesday night and fly out Thursday morning. July 15-18 at HRH and July 18-25 at POR. We originally were going to do 5 days at US and 6 days at WDW but at the last minute changed it to 3 days at US and 8 days at WDW!!! I'm so excited I can't think straight. Wish me luck. DH has no idea of how much stuff I'm actually bringing.

We don't get the luxury of being able to pack without the kids around - in fact, I'm not sure that we're going to get time to pack! Oh well, maybe we'll sleep on the plane...
Exciting though, isn't it?!

Actually this is the first time I've ever been able to pack without kids pulling things out of the suitcases or trying to stuff junk into them. This really is a luxury and I can't thank my in-laws enough!

I understand! The kids just left to spend the day with their dad so this is my day to get all the suprises packed and get a jump on my packing. We leave Friday and I can't believe I haven't started yet!

Packing is a nightmare in my home! And my DH is the worst of all. He waits until the night before we leave to get his things in order. And if I attempt to pack for him he will undo everything and start all over.

My DD9 doesn't like what I pack for her and I guess that's what happens when your one and only little girl is starting to grow up.

This year I'm leaving it up to them to pack their own things on their own time because I've had it. If they forget anything it's their problem.

Mom tried to help but mom was turned away.

Cool! And the bonus of not having the children under foot while packing.

We just returned last night from a week in Canada at my moms. So now I have to unpack and do laundry and then I can start to pack for WDW. We don't leave for another 2 weeks but this time I really want to be prepared and not pack at the last minute. I pack for everyone(7 people), DH only packs his toothbrush - LOL!

I think this week I'll do some more shopping for our trip(and back to school clothes - school starts the week after we get back) and that way next week will hopefully be less stressful.

We leave friday and are taking our Travel Trailer. I think that I am 95% packed. I can now finish my housework (I'm not sure how with 5 kids in the house for the next 4 days) and then just throw in the last minute stuff Friday Morning. DH has been much more helpful this trip and actually has all of his "chores" finished. He wants to play Lacrosse 2 nights this week so he knew he'd better get things done this weekend. I haven't been sleeping well the last few nights, waking up thinking of things that I need to get done. Today we got a ton done so I'm hoping for some good sleep.

Packing in our house is always stressful! DW stands at the top of the stairs and announces, I need 14 pairs of underpants from everybody! We all then run off to our rooms and find the required items, and take them to DW before being given our next instruction: 14 pairs of socks! And so on.
Still, it's easier now they are older. As a young child, DS removed items from the suitcase DW was packing and posted them down behind the bed. DW was a bit put out to arrive for our beach holiday with no swimsuit!

Ahh Haa... I have a secret. I did a list and slowly packed the suitcases when DD was in school or out with friends. DS would be napping. The stress level was cut in half! It was a good thing I did, we had one family emergency after another.

I love the pre-trip packing stage! It means the trip is close.

Well the packing is almost finished. I'm just waiting for a couple of loads of wash to finish. It has been heaven packing by myself. I don't think I'll ever be able to do this again. It's funny when you keep buying all along you don't realize how much you've bought until you start packing it. Maybe tonight I'll finally get some sleep because I kept waking up thinking of all the things I had to do. Thanks to all who wish us a good trip.

Oh well, must get some sleep now (it's 11:30 PM and the taxi for the airport is coming at 4:45 AM!!!)
