I got a tattoo. It's very small and on my left wrist. It says "forever" in my mummy's handwriting from one of the only cards she's ever given me when I got engaged. (She doesn't do cards, they were never her thing!)

It is easily covered with a watch or bracelet, so I'm not worried about it for work. Though I bet even if I didn't cover it very few people would notice. It looks big in the picture, but it's really very small.

I love it!

I've been wanting to get something in the same place, but my husband isn't thrilled with the idea of it!

I love it!! I have never thought about doing that. I would love to have that done with DDs handwriting

Did it hurt

Yes. But nearly as much as I had geared myself up for. I was fully expecting excruciating agony. In reality, it stung a fair bit. It's not something I'd run out and do again, but that's mostly because I don't want another tattoo and not because it was a horrible experience.

Love it! I love it even more because of the meaning. :thumbsup2

I have been wanting a tattoo but have been tossing around ideas. I am finally designing it in my head...my Mom passed away 2 weeks ago and loved sunflowers so that is what it will be (and a hidden mickey thrown in).

Sorry to babble...

I love the idea of your mom's favorite flower with a hidden Mickey! That's so personal and special! :lovestruc Where will you get it??

I'm not a fan of tattoos, but Ember's idea and FormrCastmbr's idea are so sweet! I just love the sentiments behind them.

Ember ~ what a wonderful thing to have it in your mom's handwriting!

I think on my ankle but not 100% sure. I have always wanted one on my foot and love to be barefoot but worry about it half showing in shoes...if that makes sense. I also like the place you got yours...

The number of petals and leaves will also be the number of the kids and grand kids in the family. I will be sure to show it off...

Again, I love yours! It will always bring a smile!

Very cool Ember. I'm sure it will bring you much happiness in the coming years. I've got a tattoo also, but it doesn't have as much meaning as yours does. :)

A friend of mine lost her son, and had his name tattooed over her heart in his handwriting from a card as well. I'm not a huge fan of tattoos, but I love the meaning.

That is very sweet and touching. I'd always thought I would NEVER get a tattoo but that is something I can see doing.

You know, I never thought I'd do it either. I found the card and the idea floated in my head for a while. Then today mum was doing really badly and I just really wanted to do it. I don't think she'll be here very much longer... For some reason it just felt right.

I do like that it's tiny. I wanted something I could see but also something that really wasn't noticeable. Also, because I teach grade one, it needs to be covered so now I have to remember to put my watch on!

Ember, so glad you did something for yourself to help lift your spirits :flower3:. I read your threads about your dear Mum's illness and my heart and prayers go out to you sweetie.
This is such a wonderful tribute to your Mum!

My sister and I are extremely close and we are getting a matching TINY simba (the picture that Rafikki painted on the tree in The Lion King) because whenever she had a hard day [she is 7 years older than me] and came home crying or something, we would watch The Lion King and comfort each other. She just recently got married and her husband is stationed to Cannon (or is it Cannan .. or Kannon) , New Mexico. We have never been away from each other for longer than a week. So, this is more of a sisterly bond type thing because Disney is our life.

This isn't something I just thought of. I have loved the image since I was in the 4th grade and I saw my teacher had the exact same tattoo on her ankle. My only problem is my fear of needles.
