To wrap or not

All our presents are wrapped with tags that just say who they are for and my children are led to believe that ALL their gifts come from Father Christmas only adults exchange gifts. We never say ".....and this one is from mummy and daddy....."
When we take to their grandparents to get their gifts they always say "look what Father Christmas left here for you "

Father Christmas always leaves wrapped presents in the girls stockings in their bedrooms. Any that don't fit just pile up next to the stocking. They're not allowed to open anything till we've all been woken up, even if that is 4am

This is exactly how we are. All the presents are always wrapped and labelled with their names on, then put in their sacks and all come from Father Christmas ~ even now They also have a stocking each which gets filled with little things like chocolate coins and the traditional satsuma and this comes from Father Christmas too.

This is how my parents did it and so did DH's. Until I read this thread I wasn't even aware other people gave presents from Mummy and Daddy!!

When I was a child we never had anything wrapped always left in the bedroom unwrapped with a stocking at the end of the bed with oranges. Nuts, and the tubes of sweets. However Vickis is always wrapped now and under the tree for the morning.

When I was younger I was (as was my sister) told something like 'some people give presents to Santa to deliver and others are from him' However, my dad's side of the family are funny about the recipient knowing it's from them though (putting it nicely there.. ) so they always used to give them to us themselves. Our presents our all wrapped to this day though, it's the law to have a sea of ripped up paper on Christmas day (though nowadays it's more of a small puddle *lol*)

This is the same in our house and DD also gets a stocking left at the end of her bed with chocolate coins and small wrapped gifts.

Presents from family+friends to our girls,Presents from us to the girls+Presents that the girls have bought each other all go under/around the tree.
Presents from Santa are put in there sacks which the girls leave out on Christmas Eve in front of the tree-these are wrapped with 'distinctive' paper each year,this year it has Santa on it+says 'from Santa' on it.
They have a stocking each which is left on the sofa,which normally gets filled with choc coins,pens,pencils,hair bobbles,stickers etc..little bits+bobs-oh and always a satsuma+a bag of roast beef monster munch(Santa always used to bring me them).

When i was little i had a 'sack' at the end of my bed(my Nan still has it now-it was a white flanelette sheet my Nan sewed together-which i decorated).Presents were always wrapped from Santa.Santa would always leave my 'special' gift downstairs in front of the tree.I also had pressies under the tree from family.
I have never done the sack/stocking at the end of the bed for our girls-for 2 reasons-Dd7 is a very light sleeper+this was how i found out that Santa was Nanny+Grandad .x.

We don't do the stocking/sack at the end of the bed either - Santa leaves all the pressies in a completely different room altogether .

I've had a couple of Christmas Eves trying very quietly to fill Santa's sack in a hotel bathroom at 3am, then drag it into the hotel bedroom where DD is sleeping, without her waking up (boy those sacks don't half rustle when you don't want them to ). Its no wonder mums and dads are dozing in front of the telly by 7pm on Christmas evening is it. Thank goodness my DD isn't a morning person - even on Christmas Day. I have to wake her up every year with "Santa's been !!!"

We are weird in this house!

The kids get one of them big sacks (each) full of wrapped toys from mummy and daddy and ONE big toy (unwrapped, each) from santa

No stockings and the bottom of bed as my kids are terrified of a fat man creeping into their room in the middle of the night...same with the tooth fairy, Jade (nearly 8) leaves her tooth downstairs on the front door in a wee silk pouch as she would freak out if a 'stranger' was to sneak in to her room!

We have to leave a note for Santa to say not to climb the stairs and just stay downstairs.....

do my kids need therapy?

Same here! If they ask why the labels say peoples names then I explain that that person wrote to Santa asking him to bring that gift to them.

As for wrapping - every single thing is wrapped. Isn't that the exciting bit? Seeing all those wonderful gifts wrapped and waiting to be opened. I'd be so dissappointed if I saw all my presents (all 3) just lying there on view as the excitement would be over in seconds!

Father Christmas leaves his wrapped gifts to the children at the end of their beds in their rooms, and fills the stockings with smaller gifts and trinkets. The gifts from family, friends and DH and I to the children are all under and around the tree, along with gifts for DH and I and all the family who stay with us over the holiday season. On Christmas Eve we sort through all of the parcels and create a pile for all 11 of us in the drawing room, then on Christmas morning we all open them up together with Christmas music in the background.

I completely agree! I remember as a child that there was nothing more exciting than waking up and seeing a wrapped-up gift, with the huge rush of anticipation over what it could be. It wouldn't be half as memorable if you woke up and saw the gift immediately!

Ours are all wrapped - I even wrapped the doggies gifts tonight

When we were younger Father Christmas would always leave them down stairs on our 'own chairs' - strangely enough, he still does today - and we're now both 24 and 21 respectively! Even DBF has his own chair where Santa has left his gifts, now that he lives with us too

Oh I forgot to add, we each have our own wrapping paper too. Father Christmas is so clever, he leaves me Disney paper every year!

I remember as a child that there was nothing more exciting than waking up and seeing a wrapped-up gift, with the huge rush of anticipation over what it could be. It wouldn't be half as memorable if you woke up and saw the gift immediately!

Our pressies from Santa weren't wrapped, but all (or as many as would fit) in a giant Santa sack each. So we still got the rush of anticipation, as you couldn't see what was in the sack . All pressies from relatives and to relatives are wrapped up and under the tree, so theres the anticipation of opening those as well.

He is Santa in our house - he could equally be Father Christmas, but he's usually Santa.

I've used both Father Christmas & Santa in my above post, but mostly he's Father Christmas to me, that's what I always say - goodness knows why I typed 'Santa'??
