September 20th 2007 (Day 8)
Since Steve was starting to feel the exertion of all the walking (and if i'm honest I would have been too tired to really enjoy Busch Gardens today) we changed our plans a bit Today we'd go to Kennedy Space Center, Islands of Adventure would be on our planned KSC day and Busch Gardens would replace IOA. Got it?! We had a CS breakfast (french toast with sausage for me and french toast with eggs for Steve which he was allowed as a substitute for meat so be sure to ask if you're veggie as they're usually pretty accomodating at WDW) We got out quite late and it was nearly 11 by the time we arrived at KSC. We paid for the Nasa Up Close tour and wandered around for a bit taking pictures until our tour time.
The tour was really interesting and we thought it was definitely worth the money as you got much closer than the normal one.
When the tour was finished I got some presents for my dad from the gift shop and decided to call it a day. We were both tired (it's a very exposed place and it was boiling hot so you feel drained quite quickly) and rather than end up narky we preferred to end the visit on a high as we know we'll return next time. I know some find KSC boring but we thought it was really interesting, it's a lot of info to take in all at once though and we wished we had time to do a second day there this trip.
We decided to go to the malls on the way back as we had a few things we wanted to return but first we had to fill up the car (first time!) I almost couldn't leave the forecourt though, no-one would let me back onto the road! Whilst I did enjoy the driving with the roads being bigger and less congested I didn't always find other drivers to be very courteous and there was an awful lot of people speeding. Massive trucks doing 70+ is quite scary too, i'm glad they have limiters in the UK! We stopped off at the Florida Mall then Festival Bay where we decided to stay for dinner as we wanted to try Fuddruckers. I had the swiss melt burger and a chocolate shake and Steve had the veggie burger with a cookie shake and we shared some seasoned fries. We both went mad with the toppings bar again and the meal was delicious, 100% recommended and i'm sure we'll be returning! After dinner we got another pair of trainers each. There was a pretty nasty looking storm outside and the lights and fire alarm were going on and off inside the mall for a while which was pretty scary but the staff said not to worry (not sure what signifies an actual emergency then?!) It wasn't showing any signs of dying off so we drove home in it which is an experience i'd be happy to never repeat as I nearly aquaplaned on the highway! I was so relieved when we got back to POFQ. We later learned that there had been a tornado in another county and an electrical storm in the night, yikes!!
