Heading to WDW for a few day visit in December. Staying at Boardwalk. Want to spend one day at the Harry Potter lands. Do not want to rent a car. What is the best way to get there and back? Thinking about a cab. Will spend a little more to make the best use of our time. 2 adults no kids. Thanks!

Hi,
I think you are right, taxi would be the best option if you would like to save time and don't want to rent a car. The cab will porbably run you USD40,00/USD45,00 + tip each way, but check with front desk personnel at Boardwalk, they should know the going price for taxi runs. The only other option that occurs to me is booking a transfer (shared-ride style) with Mears transportation. It would seem you have to phone them in order to be able to book this, and the price, if I am not mistaken, is USD 20,00 per person round trip. This will probably mean waiting for other guests and making multiple hotel stops.
Hope this helps :)

I have used a rental once, used a car service once, and the Mears shuttle three times. Yes, you do ha e to book it in advance. You can do it before you leave for vacation, or you can call them the night before, from BW. Either use a cc to pay when you make the reservation (and keep any confirmation numbers with you), or have exact cash at the bus.
I have been able to book a p/u time of 7:30.....allowed us to get to US/IoA, checked into RPR, and to the park gates by 8:30. Other times, we've been picked up around 8, and been there in plenty of time for opening.
When it was time to leave? We could have pre booked our return ride when we initially booked. But we chose to give them a call a few hours before we were ready to leave. We were then given a p/u time....we were usually able to choose between several times..
I have found this to be a great way to get there and back. It is about $20 pp, r/t, plus tip. A car service will run about $80 r/t, plus tip. Same with a cab. You could rent a car, but that's kind of a pain. You have to go get it, drive yourself to US/IoA, pay to park, trudge to the park entrance, then drive back, gas up, and return the car..
I would go the Mears route with just two people.

We're two adults, also heading to Universal after a few days at WDW. We plan to spend our last WDW at MK and will head back to our resort whenever we are done and plan to just get a cab from there. I'm not sure if the resorts have a cab stand or not, but at the very least, we'll have one called. IMO, a cab will give us the shortest commute time and gives us the flexibility to leave WDW whenever we want to without scheduling a time.

We have 3 adults who are venturing to Universal for a day in December also, staying at Bay Lake Towers.
One of my nieces had looked into the Dreams Unlimited option where the park tickets & bus pickup were combined in price. She & her sister want to be sure to get there early enough to get into Harry Potter World, me I haven't been since the early 1980's so I was just curious to see the park again. I understand the lines to Harry Potter Wizard World are long and we need to get there early!
