To try or to not try a new resort?

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon last September, and it was the first time either of us had stayed on property.

Now we are starting to think about our next trip, and I'm the main planner... so I'm not sure if we should stick with CBR (which we loved) or try another.

What moderate besides CBR would you recommend?

And what is your favorite value?? I was kinda thinking about downgrading resorts, and possibly staying at Pop or ASMo

When are you thinking of going?
they are working on the main pool at CBR till sept I think.

I do like POP....only value I stayed at.....I would never stay at POP in
hot weather though....no ceiling fans....and no shade waiting
for the bus.

POFQ is very small....every room is close....
POR and CSR are bigger with more meandering walkways.
happy planning

CBR and CSR are my fave mods. Both are beautiful!

I have only stayed at 1 mod, AsSports and didnt really enjoy it much.

We are thinking about going Christmas week 2009 - we are crazy people :lmao:

We might just stick with CBR since we did love it :goodvibes

I don't know your personality, so only you can answer this for yourself. I really enjoy seeing the different resorts, but some folks really like staying at the same place repeatedly.

All of the resorts are clean and have their pluses and minuses. Only the All-Stars are decorated with Disney characters, for example. They also have one bus stop, so unlike the mods, you don't have to wait on the bus while it stops all around the resort. On the other hand, the mod rooms are bigger, the pools have slides and towels (at the values, you bring towels from your room), coffee makers in the room, nicer ro0om decor and more storage space, etc.

For me, I really enjoy the idea of trying different resorts, and going in with an understanding of what I'm going to get.

I think if you pick a place that has theming you enjoy, you'll have the most fun.

I think it's always good to try new resorts! POFQ is very romantic, and you can book a guaranteed king room water view which gives you a lovely view of the river behind the resort.

I'm not fond of any of the value resorts, IMHO I'd rather stay at the Hilton for what they charge.

i want to stay in them all and not pre-judge them, although i really appreciate all the opinions beforehand

other folks' opinions give me things to watch out for both negative and positive

so me, i would try somewhere new

happy planning!

I stayed at CBR twice and totally loved it, both times. But when it came time for our next trip, my wife and I both agreed we should try a different resort, just for the sake of trying something different. We now love POFQ too!

Your question reminds me of a couple we met on our honeymoon 16 years ago. We honeymooned at a lovely, non-chain all-inclusive resort in the real Caribbean. We met an "older" couple -- they were probably about my age now! -- who advised us to always save money for an annual vacation. And they told us that every year they took their annual vacation at that same resort because they loved it there so much. Even back then, my wife and I had the same reaction. While we were happy for that couple that they found such a happy place for themselves, we also felt badly for them that they limited themselves, over the years, and haven't seen the rest of what the world can offer.

So now you know where I'm coming from when I say go elsewhere. Enjoy exploring!

Stay at POR. Its got a great food court and it can be very romantic, especially since you are newlyweds and still love eachother. :lovestruc You can rent boats and the sea racers which you can take all the way to Downtown Disney! They also have a boatride that is available to DTD if you don't want to wait for the bus. Not to mention the surrey bikes you can rent and take over to POFQ. The resort is large, but not as large as CBR, so I don't think the size would be any issue to you.

In regards to the vaue resorts, they are going to be packed with large families with kids. Lots of LOUD kids. Also, the walls aren't as soundproof as your going to get at the mod or deluxe level, so if there happens to be a very whiny baby in the middle of the night, your going to hear it. NOT what you want to deal with after a long day in the parks.

Part of the draw of WDW for us is that each time we go we can stay at a new resort, try new restaurants, see new shows, etc.

So my opinion would be to try something new that fits into the budget this time.

Have fun!

We were originally going to stay at POR last trip, but ended up having to change.

I'll have to talk to DH to figure it out - thanks everyone!!

We stay somewhere different each trip and plan to continue to do so. I love checking out the different resorts and all they have to offer. Once we see them all, then maybe we'll settle down. That'll be after about 20 more trips :rotfl:
