To Travel Agent or Not To Travel Agent?

I have been booking through a TA since 2008 and wouldn't do it any other way. They do strictly Disney vacations and that is what I love about going through an agency like that. I book my trip 7-8 months out, send a quick email to make any payments I need to. I do my own dining adr's. I book my own MVMCP tickets and my own airfare. When a special promo comes out for a discount, I can go to work in peace and wait for the email from them letting me know that they had it applied to my reservation... they get on the phones as soon as they open up so I won't have to sit on hold for hours like a lot of people do on days when discounts are released. I don't have time to take off of work to be sitting on the phone all morning trying myself, so that is a BIG plus to using a TA.

I would never use a travel agent but many others prefer one. It all depends if you want to trust someone else and put your vacation in their hands. To me, booking is just as easy as telling the TA what you want. The only difference is if I do it myself, I can make sure it was all done correctly.

I am in the preplanning process for an eight day trip to DW. It will be my family's first trip and I'm trying to decide if I should use a travel agent or not. I know that they are free and that they can book your room early. Do they offer any other perks? Are they worth it?

Here is a bit of information us.

Our trip would be during October 2017
We are a family of 8 (Me, DH, DSis, DBIL, DM, DF, DD5, DN5)
We would like to stay in POR in the Royal Rooms
We need 2 rooms that are connected (I understand we might not get this. Would a TA help?)
We would like to do several Character Meals (On the DDP)
We would like tickets to MNSSHP
We would like to book the BBB
We would like to book a Personal VIP Tour

What do you think, TA or No TA?
I tried to send you a message, but I guess you are too new to the forum. Feel free to visit my profile and click my home page to learn about my work as a Disney travel specialist. :)

Also, the TA's have agency exclusive discounts that aren't available to the general public. I've saved a great deal of $$ by booking thru a TA. So it doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposition. Booking a room and tickets thru a TA is no different than booking thru Disney -- just less expensive.
