Check out this article from the Orlando Sentinel...

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1291247

We felt the same way this past September, and I suppose lots of others do too since numbers continue to decline year over year...US was an absolute ghost town and DH and I kept laughing b/c all over the park there were characters with NO ONE even by them. The Mystery Machine would drive by and no one was there to see them. Woody would stand there without anyone coming to see him...

This has already been posted. I must say you seem almost giddy at the thought. :confused3 I have always had a wonderful time at the parks. A lot of it has to do with your personality.

Since anyone who posts anything negative about US gets lambasted on this board, I thought this was a great article from someone who used to be a US fan and is a neutral reporter.

Utah Kennedys, Mike Thomas (The reporter) is not neutral. It's actually well known in the Orlando Sentinel is the Slantinel, since they tend to slant stories toward Disney.

We're so used to seeing Pro Universal posts get blasted on other boards, it's surprising that you think that we blast pro disney ones here.

No...in defense he said anti Universal. They dont get blasted, they get defended because most of us who post on this side of the tracks really love Universal. And I for one STILL question the authors intentions. The week the article was published was the same week that both Universal and disney started their holiday events. Only disney charges for their super collosal parade, while Universal does not. And it was also the week that IOACentral Radio released their disney vs. Universal show. Coincidence? Maybe the IOACentral Radio part.....but why would an author write NOW about something in September? Slanted. Were this Fox news it would be called fair and balanced.
So...in closing.....if you dont like the parks, dont go. If its disney you want, you wont get it at Universal....again dont go. They are different parks for different people. Have fun no matter what you decide. We do and we dont care about what you or the Slantinel says about it. :thumbsup2

Funny though, I don't think anyone here rushed over to post it on the other Dis forums or do we ever post negative Disney articles on other Dis forums. Why encourage people to feel negative about any of the parks???:confused3:

Personally, I have never lambasted anybody who says they don't like Universal. I tell them why I love Universal and hope they maintain an open mind.

I do enjoy lambasting closed-minded people who state untue, unfair, or misleading things about either Universal or Disney. I enjoy lambasting people who seem to take glee in walking into a crowded room and yelling inflamatory remarks just to start an argument.

If you're not one of those people, and you post something negative about Universal or Disney that's a fact, not an opinion, I won't lambaste you.

this is another reason why we don't vacation in Salt Lake City... the residents.

I hope its a ghost town Christmas week!
Thats when we are going!! Cant wait.
I kinda doubt it tho. We expect big crowds.

Its our first time to US and IoA.

Not a ghost town! :confused3 We were there on Saturday, and even with express, we still waited 25 minutes for The Mummy and 20 minutes for MIB. Some ghost town.....

Was there last week Thurs 12/14 thru Sun 12/17 - hardly a ghost town - quiet but hardly a ghost town

Truth be told wally world I-4 west also has a slow time in December.

Rained last Thur - but on Fri and especially Sat and Sun Universal and IOA were busy. I liked the quiet.

Still think that writers intentions were from a monetary - probably shareholder standpoint - either way slanted mouse-ward - probably too much kool-aid.

Disney is doing a better job at advertising to a certain degree. What was last year? 50 years celebration? Big ad budget. This year. The million wishes promo.

I think that has done more to encourage people to Disney.
