I just want you to know that it gets easier! I used to cry when my boys would leave to go back to school. They'd come home for a weekend or a holiday, and I hated it when they'd leave to go back. It helps that they are no longer homesick (few things are worse than having your 18 year-old, 500 miles away with strep throat & homesick too!) My DSs share an apt this year, so the roommate thing is easier (they both swear that each other were their last choices in roommates!)
So if you are missing your college kid, if they're calling home because they miss you - they WILL find things to keep them busy. For the first time in their lives, perhaps, they need to seek out friends. My sons were always thrown in with friends because of sports and other extra-curricular activities (how many Moms planned "play dates" for their little ones?) It gets easier - really it does!

Im glad to hear that, I absolutely hate my son being gone! Isn't it terrible when you hear yourself saying, are you SURE you REALLY think you NEED to go to college? lol! I know, I know, I spent his whole life telling him that college wasn't even an option, he WOULD be going, and now that the time is here, Im wishing he could just be a little boy again and stay home! Im sure it will get easier with time, but this first semester really stinks! :(

To the moms missing their college kids....you can have one or both of mine! LOL:D I have a 19 yo son and a 21 yo daughter! They both are very sweet, kind, considerate, neat kids! I'm willing to let you borrow them either for a semester, or the whole year! No charge! Heck, I'll even throw in some money...just let me know!
