To take my supplies or not....that's the question.

Ok, next week we are heading to Hilton Head Island for a full week in our timeshare condo. We have decided not to do a ton of activities, but sleep in, rest, watch tv, walk on the ocean, etc. Now, should I take some of my scrapping supplies and try to make myself get some things accomplished. If so, help me compile a reasonable list of a few things that I could take and work on. I have an entire scrapbook room and 4 large rolling totes and other multiple bags and I can only take 1 wheeled bag worth of stuff so help me decide what if anything I should take. Thanks.

Don't ask me, I took scrapbooking stuff to the hospital when I had dd #4! If you got the room and you're willing to haul it around... go for it!

Lisa, do you have an album that you need to finish up? I would be tempted to just concentrate on one. Or you could pre-plan your pages (like I do for a crop) and then only take the cardstock, paper, and embellishments for those pages.
Have a relaxing week!!!

When I went to California at Christmas (staying at brother's) I knew I'd have a couple blocks of time at least and decided to use it for something I enjoy - scrapping.

I used my power layout box to pre-plan a layout (actually about 32 pages). I didn't get all of the paper, trim, stickers, etc selected page by page but since it was all one theme I pulled what I thought I might use and took that with me. Easily would have fit in one rollie bag.

Of course you should bring your stuff with you. I would do a power sort box (CM) or bring your cutting system and crop all your photos so you can stay head of the game.
I bring my stuff when we go to VA to my in-laws. It gives me something to do so I don't lose my mind while we visit them. The in-laws play with the kids and and my husband is doing something with his father or friends so it's like a scrap book vacation for me. I brought all my stuff on vacation to Maine last summer. Scrap booking is part of my vacations.

Ya know -
I hadn't even thought of bringing my stuff on vaca with me next month!
After our stay at the WL we will head down to Ft Myers for a while -
hmmmm maybe I will ring the album I have like Cyndi just posted and put that together...

All of teh above suggestions are very good. I want to add another one though. My dm is in FL in a 5th weheel. Although they have a ton of space for a triler, she is still somewhat limited. So she got as many pages in her book as possible and only took her journaling supplies with her. I don't know if that fits your style, but I always leave jouranaling until last and then I just grab my pens and go. Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

This is a really good thread and I know this will be one of my questions when we go to our condo in Panama City Beach, FL in July. When I cross stitched years ago it was so easy to take my stuff w/me in a small tote bag. Now that I'm in way over my head on scrapping :earseek: I know I'll want to take my cropping stuff w/me too. I think I would take scissors, adhessive, a ruler, 2 or 3 pencils and pens and then get an idea of what pages I wanted to work on. Someone suggested taking an album that you're working on. I think that's a great idea....take just the pictures you'll need, the C/S, stickers and whatever else you think you will need just for those pages. Remember tho to make sure you have a good sturdy box or case to protect your pages and keep them from getting damaged.

I hope I can remember all this good advice when I start getting ready in a few months!!

Ok ladies thank you for all your suggestions. I'm sitting here amongst my huge stack trying to sort now. I am going with the cutting system and some basics and plan to at least crop and sort. I will most likely crop, mat and maybe even do some journaling boxes and fill those in too. That way when I return I only have to place pictures on the pages and maybe add an embellishment here or there. Thanks again for all the support and such great ideas!

I've done this for years when I go with my husband on ski vacations - winter! Ugh! I take about the same items as Tn Traveler - paper cutter, scissors, pens, ruler, large square punch, adhesive, and maybe my cm cutters. I make page kits before I go (Pictures, paper, embellishments except for eyelets - i do not take the setter stuff) and put them in page protectors and then in a plastic box. Make more than you think you'll need! You'll be surprised how much you get done - and how soothing it is when you're at mil's ;-)
