To rent a car or not during Christmas week?

Hi,

My family and I will be going to WDW from Dec 19-26 staying at POR with free dining. It'll be myself, my DD12, my sister, her DD6 and DD10. I went last year but it was the beginning of December. At that time, it was only three of us (myself, my DD11 and my sister's DD9 at the time). We stayed at POFQ and the kids complained about the bus wait times and there was never a seat (standing room only); especially after the fireworks at the parks, it was brutal! Aside from that, we used ME for return and our flight was 7 am and they asked us to be at the stop for pickup at 3am! So... we end up at the airport way too early!

So for this year, I checked and the lowest I got was from Avis which was $177for 7 days. Pick up at Hilton Disney (near DTD) and drop off at MCO. My sister thinks we should just save that extra $$ and use it somewhere else (but she wasn't there last year to expereience it). I think for the price and the convenience, we should just rent a car. Also, we wouldn't have to deal with leaving 4 hrs before to the airport with ME.

Any suggestions and feedbacks would be greatly appreciated!

Rent the car. It will be crazy. It will also assist with getting to early ADR or resort dining.

We NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go without a car.

Our rental is December 17th to the 31st through Avis. It is $400 for a full-size car, so about $200/week. Not bad.
