To protect your direct purchase DVC value...

I've purchased 5 contracts via resale and after the initial 200 pointer, we bought smaller contracts of 25 to 100 points each (we wish the 200 pointer was broken up as well). We did this for 3 reasons...1- we can afford to add on smaller contracts...2- if, someday, we don't need quite as many points we can sell off a contract or 2 (and since we own at 3 resorts, we could sell off small chunks at each resort or all at 1 resort or whatever combo we find works for us to get us the right number of points at the right resort(s))...3- smaller contracts sell quicker.

If we were to buy 300 points direct (not likely), we certainly would buy several smaller contracts.

For those with a lot of kids...
Splitting purchases into many small contracts makes sense since that's how they will be disposed of in our will. Of course, I plan to outlive my DVC...but just in case...

We are in the process of closing on a 600 point re-sale purchase at BLT. It is actually three 200 point contracts from the same seller. We are doing the purchase as one transaction, so we only have one closing, one admin fee, etc. Not sure how it works for the seller. It went through ROFR as a single 600 point transaction, though it clearly stated three different deeds.

It'd be interesting to do an actual spreadsheet-type analysis as to how much the size of the contract affects the sale price. I'm seeing them listed high and snapped up right away in this market. Big contracts are sitting.
