that is the question!!

We are headed for our first family trip to WDW in 3 weeks. Our DDs are 2 and 4. My DW and I have been numerous times. We are staying 6 days/5 nights at the WL. We plan to spend 2-3 days in MK and 1 day in AK and an evening in Epcot. We will probably pass on most of the popular rides in MK (SM, SpM, BMTR, etc.) because our kids are too young. We remind ourselves...this trip is for them. My questions is: how much planning should I do in terms of a ride "itinerary" given that our kids are young? It seems like we should just take out time and be flexible (mid-day breaks are planned). I assume 2-3 days in MK will be enough to see everything several times at a leisurely pace, especially since we are going in early May. What are crowds like this time of the year? Thanks.

Hmmmm... tough question. Although I don't have any kids, I can tell you to definitely take a mid day break. I'm 26 and I need them :p . I would plan what parks to do what days and make PS but that's as far as I would go. I think kids that age are too unpredictable to have a set plan. Some of the best moments are those not planned!!

We'll be at the WL with our 3 1/2 yo DD from 5/1 - 5/6. I'm with you that I haven't made up an extensive itinerary and that this trip is for her. The most I've done is prioritize the MK rides etc. that I think DD would like and made a PS at Crystal Palace for lunch. Other than that we're just going to go with the flow. Have a great trip :D

We went last year with DD4 and the most planning we did was which park on which day and what rides / shows we wanted to see. Then we just did what we could to make sure we saw all we could. Be flexible, it will make things easy. Being rigid with young kids at Disney makes for fussy kids and irritated parents!;)

I wouldn't make too many plans with kids that young. I would just plan what parks to do what days and make any PS's that I wanted. Definetly plan for a break each day. I'm 24 and I still need an afternoon break. That's all of the planning I would do. Have a great trip.:teeth:
