To photobomb, or not to photobomb. That is the question!

To photobomb, or not to photobomb?

  • Age 18-29: Sure Photobombing can be fun!

  • Age 18-29: No way! That's so rude!

  • Age 30-45: Fun times! I don't have a problem with it.

  • Age 30-45: Grow up!

  • Age 45-65: Hey if its in good taste why not?

  • Age 45-65: Don't mess with my memories!

  • Over 65: Life is too short! Bombs away!

  • Over 65: How cruel!

He's a glorified bus-driver! Whats makes him more qualified to act silly in your picture than anyone else?

Because he belongs there, and he's part of the overall scenery, and in a way - if only because of his uniform - you "know" him.

Same as if Goofy jumped into the background of your picture.

Related story- I waited over an hour to meet Ramin Karimloo (West End star now playing Jean val Jean in Les Miserables on Broadway) after his concert in NYC and the security guard there photo bombed my pic w him. I was the last one on the line and it was worth the wait for a great picture.... until I noticed the security guard right behind me in background. He made a huge grimace face and ruined my picture. I don't own photoshop and I shouldn't need to invest in it for something that shouldn't have happened in first place.

Photo bombing didn't used to bother me but since the incident above I've completely changed my mind.

That one moment in time can never be recreated and although it can be amusing at times it's just an overall bad practice in my book.

1 of many stories of the reasons why PB is just dumb unless you know the people. You never know what is a special moment of 1 time in a lifetime sort of photo.

Guess what Timmy's make a wish is to see Goofy and you just photobombed his 1 picture from the trip..... You didn't even know because you were so caught up in yourself and how "funny" you are.

Also I love the fact that you post 3 PB pictures of:
Disney Employee
Disney Character
People who were already sitting down and someone chose to have a picture in front of them

Not one of these is what you are describing where its a random person going out of their way....

I would say that in the bolded one the two ladies did go a bit out of their way because they had to lean forward to get in the picture (especially the one on the right), however I don't have a lot of sympathy because the people getting their picture taken could've moved over just a few feet and not had them in the picture at all. In fact, I have to wonder why they chose that spot to have a picture taken - it's not like there was anything of interest behind them.

I was at Epcot last week taking a photo of the Kermit playing the banjo with Miss Piggy, when this guy jumped in front of me playing air guitar!

He then came apologized and asked how it came out! I showed him and he was disappointed that my lens wasn't wide enough to show him playing the guitar.

It didn't bother me because I was taking a photo of a topiary, and just retook it after he left.

Last year my girls, who were 8 and 11, were having a Disney photographer take their picture in front of Tower of Terror to commemorate my youngest's first time ridding it. I stayed out of the picture and stood to the side. The photographer took the photo and a girl from a large tour group jumped behind them and stuck out her tongue and tossed up a double middle finger. I followed her a few steps and gave her a piece of my mind. She laughed at me and gave me another middle finger. While I was doing that, the photographer handed the photo pass lanyard to one of my kids and photographed the next group in line. I hoped he got a shot either before or after the photobomber. He didn't. The picture was somehow removed from our photo pass and we ended up without that picture that my 8yo was really looking forward to having.

Instead of confronting the photo bomber, you probably should of just told the photographer what happened immediately so he could have taken a second photo.

Not that the PB wasn't wrong here, but what did you think was going to happen...? The safer thing to do here would have been to alert the photographer and move on.

My parents paid for my adult sisters and I, along with out families to go to disney because she wanted quality time of the family together and wanted a picture of everyone together in front of the castle for their 50th wedding anniversary. We stopped at a few photographers along main street and got many wonderful shots... But in one shot- we were photo bombed by an inconsiderate jerk ( def. did it in purpose- stopped behind my Dad, looked directly into the camera and smiled).- he was pretty dang close to my Dad.... Anyway- when I viewed the pics at The magic Kingdom- I was so mad (to say The least). It was one of the first photos we viewed- what if that had happened to be the best?!?? I spent the rest of the day keeping that jerks face in my head. I swear if i had seen him him I would have punched him square in the face. Would I have gotten kicked out- sure , maybe even a minor charge- but guess what- I don't care! My Mom is dying of terminal colon cancer and that was her last trip to Disney...

You had better watch out who you photobomb-- cause you might run into a crazy like me! For those that think its funny- I may need a sense if humor but you my friend need a life!

Who cares why they chose that spot? They did and they didn't need a reason. (Those girls sitting didn't bother me, they were there already)

As for all of those shots, I really hope that kid with pooh is a family member. Doesn't make it right but at least explainable. I have plenty of pix of my cousins doing that to each other as kids. If not, I would have went up to that kids family and totally said something.

oh my god lighten up!

It's the Dis. No one ever lightens up around here. :lmao: Everything has to be made into a huge drama. :lmao:

Last trip, my sister was taking a photo of me at the Osbourne Lights when two CM's jumped into to "photobomb." It was hilarious and I actually asked them to both jump in for a regular photo too. They were so nice.

We were at MNSSHP, dressed up as Ariel and Jasmine and had a photopass photographer take photos for us. When we looked at the photos later that night, two random guests were "bowing" to us on the side of the photo like we were royalty. It was awesome!

For me, it depends on the spirit. Sometimes it's funny. Tongues out and middle fingers, not so much.

Also, I have to say I think people taking photos is getting a little over rated. People must have photos of everything and anything. Yes everyone wants a photo with Mickey and a photo with the castle. But people are focussing so much on taking the "perfect" family shot rather than live in the moment and enjoy why you're there.

Isn't that the truth...LOL....some people get so bent out of shape over every little small detail it's a wonder that they ever enjoy their trip.

Things happen...if a guest happens to be in your pic but they are doing something nice ...laugh at it....if someone purposely tries to jump in and ruin your pic...take another one and move on...don't let that person ruin your whole trip and dwell on it the entire time being outraged....there are things in life worth getting upset over...this is NOT one of those things.

:thumbsup2 Exactly. Most times, it's in good fun. Rude gestures ect is wrong. But my examples were funny to us and ended up in our "favourite" shot pile.

The thing is, no one only takes "one" photo today. Most people take 3-4+ photos of the "same" shot (eg: family in front of the castle) so even if one photo has "ruined" with a photobomber, chances are you'll have many more "perfect" shots.

I imagine it's hard to "get a life" when your loved one is dying of terminal cancer.

That's the whole problem with photobombing strangers - you don't know what's going on in their lives. You don't know how important that photo might be to them. You don't know anything about them!

If you cared, you'd leave them alone, and not use them for your own amusement.

My 17 year old cousin just died of cancer last month so yes I do understand...however he LOVED a good laugh...if someone did that to them while they were on their Make a wish trip to Hawaii in December and it was done in a fun way then yes he would have laughed and his parents would have cherished seeing him laugh like that and they may have even thanked the person for making him laugh....then they would have taken another pic. I can tell you right now that my aunt much rather have him here now and have every single pic of him photobombed then him being gone. Cherish life ...all the good and the bad....photobombing is not worth getting so angry about.

I totally agree that it is not right to do something rude or jump in shot and make faces and am not condoning that at all but sometimes you can't help be in someone else's shot especially at a place as crowded as disney...smile and say cheese.

Yep I agree ...and i know I always take a million pics, some good shots some not so good...lol
