To Park hop or not....

We have never purchased them before. This trip I added them on, but only because we are going 12/14 - 12/28, with about half of those days being level 10's. I figured we'd end up using them to switch parks if one just gets unbearable...also for not having to plan what park we're going to each day based on which adr's I'm able to get.

The first time we took DD we hadn't been in many years and we did not make a plan before we went (this was in 2011 when you didn't need to schedule everything like you do now!). We got park hoppers and we did use them several times. When we went in 2013 we knew more of what we wanted to do and we only used them once. So it was kind of a waste. When we go this year we decided not to get the park the park hoppers and we have the whole trip planned out. I don't think we will miss them.

I guess it all depends on how you like to tour. Once EPCOT was built, I have never been to Disney w/o the ability to go between parks. When we go next fall, we will have hoppers. We'll plan some things, but leave other things open. I'd go with getting the base ticket if you're not sure you'd use the hopper. As many before me have stated, you can always add it later.

I think it's a personal decision and is based on what's best for your family. We love the flexibility that park hoppers offer. We enjoy going to a morning EMH and hopping out when things get crowded. We also like eating at Epcot more so we like to hop over there for dinner. Having the park hopper makes it nice to visit evening light shows at a different park than where you were during the day. It helps if weather gets bad to have the flexibility to change up parks too. I don't think it would make or break a trip if you didn't have the park hopper, but we certainly feel it adds to the overall value to us.

We went last October (10 days) and hopped on almost every day. Great way to take advantage of evening Extra Magic Hours at MK without spending the day there with the larger crowds EMH brings in during the day.

Also used it to great advantage to hop over to Epcot for the F&W festivals and the concerts at the American pavilion.

We also used it to jump over to HS for Fantasmic on the night we wanted to see it (which wasn't a day we were otherwise in HS).
