I would love advice on booking airfare thru Orbitz. I do not caee about Frequent flyer stuff, just need to know if there are any issues with Orbitz and WDW trip (including anything to deal with ME). Going thru typical sites tickets are $600 + even Southwest. Yikes!! Just ubder $500.00 with Orbitz one airline for flight to MCO and a different one for the return fight. Thanks so much for your help.

Make sure the price is actually the price. Go as far into booking as you can to see if it changes. And make sure you can't get those flights for that rate through the airline.

We booked air through a site like that once. We knew there would be no changes, and if the person couldn't make the plane it meant (and I'm not being flippant) she had passed away, so we didn't have to worry about change fees etc. All we had to do was get her on the plane on the scheduled day.

Otherwise I personally wouldn't book air through them. When we used them I didn't know to check to see if I could get it through the airline so I'll never know. But here we generally see that the great price changes once you get further into booking.

You're in OK? That's a high fare. One person? When is the trip?

Oh, and my mother in law did earn miles from her flight.

I agree, I'll be room stays with a 3rd party but never airfare. Lots can go wrong and most if completely out of your hands.
I have recently been checking fares for American and Delta and for kicks, checked Expedia and Orbitz and not one time did they offer a fare that the airline didn't.
So I wouldn't assume they are giving you something you can't get on your own

Never, ever book through third party sites. Book directly through the airline.

Exactly. Unless the price is significantly (> 30%) cheaper book directly with the airline. I use Orbitz and sites like it to see what flights are available and a general price then book directly with an airline. If you book with a third party and there is a problem you will have the airline and Orbitz pointing the finger at each other. You also cannot book Southwest or Jetblue through third party sites.
