to "on line check in" or not to....

... I have read many blogs, and see that if you put a request in for a certain room (area). but I have read that for those blogs where those who show up early, just get a room that is ready if you checked in on line....

so the question is....to check in on line or not to check in on line.....?

please help

We opted not to bc we didn't check in until 9:30 pm or so....I had requested top floor near the elevator at BWV - BW view. We ended up on the top floor and a not as close to the elevator as I would have liked, but it ended up great b/c we were near a stairwell and just used that to get down to the BW - came out right next to their main gift shop right near the boat launch. We are going to try to get that room again next year, but as a two BR as we will be traveling with 6 people. We loved the room and view! OK, I digress - back to your question.. I probably won't do online check in again - it took no time at all - in fact the online check in line took longer than the one I was on!

From our experience we have received a MUCH better room when we check in online - rather than checking in online. Plus you get through the line much faster.

We received a great room/building assignment at Old Key West recently that from what I understand is very difficult to get. (Room/Building closest to Hospitality House)

On our last stay at AKV Jambo House we received a HORRIBLE room assignment that literally FELT like we were going on a Safari every time we wanted to go back to our room. Coming in from 12+ hours at the parks - and THEN walking almost a MILE back to our room was NOT fun!

We will definitely always check in online in the future - and then if we don't like the room assignment - we can see what else is available.

So, it sounds like a hit & miss....
I did request a certain type of room. This will be our first time @ our home resort, WOW are we excited....
