To Nap or Not to Nap

I vote Nap & not a stroller nap.

You & your kids will be much more happier.

I have an almost 6 yo & if I told her to take a nap in the park she'd look at me like I had 4 eyes. When she was 4 & we were in WDW we made her nap in the room.

We learned our lesson that first day. We took our usual mid-day break. DH, my father & my ds all napped. My mom, myself & my dd went to the pool to swim for a few hours.

DD fell asleep in the stroller at about 6pm in Epcot. She only slept for an hour but it made going to bed that much more difficult that night.

So the rest of the time she had to nap each day in the room & she & my then 22 mo old were great each night. They stayed up until 10 or so with out any meltdowns.

Take the nap.

I would take the nap some days and, if your 1 yo naps in the stroller, power through and let her nap there. Just keep an eye on your older kids, and take the nap when needed. It depends on the child, but DD6 needed the nap. We didn't take the nap just because of DD2. I think that it has less to do with the age of the child and more to do with the child.

And, if your vacation is a week, I would plan on sleeping in one or even two days.

We are early risers, and DDs did wake early most days. There were a few days that they wanted to sleep in.

I took my niece and daughter in oct both 2 yrs old and they slept in the stroller no problems. My dd is a crank w/no sleep but crashed in the stroller fine! If you do naps at the resort just plan on all the extra travel time getting back and forth and getting them to sleep etc. That can easily eat up a couple hours of just travel time!! Good luck on your trip and do what you feel is best for you!!!!!!!

I might try it once but I know how my DD4.5 would be...and she has switched tatics...she used to be cranky with no nap now she cries at the drop of a hat. Personally, I prefer cranky to whiny. DD needs a nap but I know what would happen. She'd fall asleep on WDW transportation. Sleep until we got back to the resort...then bug the crap out of everyone to go swim or get back to the park. We're just going to man-up...dust off our patience and go full force.

I wouldn't plan on a nap the first day or 2. Everyone will be so wound up and running on pure excitment. However, by day 3, all 4 of crashed mid day for 3 hours!

Try not to plan an early morning after a late night.

We don't nap. DD (was 4 last trip) would just fall asleep in the stroller and for most late night activites she was out in the stroller by 9:00.

Good Luck in your decision.

You may have to play that one by ear. I think at 5 you may even consider the stroller rental so he can ride in the park if he gets too tired? Maybe it'll have to be something you play by ear and see how he does.:confused3

Well to be honest, we go back to the hotel because WE (dh and I) need a nap! :rotfl2: December is our first trip with our daughter, so we'll definitely be going back for sometime to unwind before dinner.
