To my friends.. since some have asked and I'm sure others will in Sept.

Lauri,
Sending LOTS of pixie dust!!! I have a very close friend with Lupis and Fiber and other complications as you have. I see how frustrating it can be with some good days and some bad days. I pray that all will work out!! BTW, the electric wheel chairs are alot of fun.....I ran over a few people last year (had foot problems)

:p

Sending good thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust your way. Looking forward to seeing you at the pin event and hoping that you will be feeling as good as possible while in WDW!

Lauri-

I am just going to be glad to see you there!

We all are thinking about you!

Michael

Lauri,
I know how hard it must have been to disclose your health issues, but we are a big family and we are all concerned about each and every one of our gang.
I hope and pray that either research will work hard on a cure, or the Insurance companies will stop fighting and pay for the treatment. Keep your hopes up and when you have the strength keep pressuring them.
I have a brother with MS, a sister with a newly diagnosed and fairly unknown autoimmune disease Richie with the Lyme that has affected him both physically and neurologically, and a soon to be daughter in law with Lupus. I see how sick they become when their bodies attack them and know how terrible you feel most of the time. We can only hope and pray that you are able to make it through those type of days and have many many more of the "good" days.
As to the way you look, believe me, we will all be looking at that crazy Raul to notice anything different about anyone else. But I am sure you can find a nice disney hat to cover that Arizona diamondback hat Jeff is going to try and make you wear.
If you are thinking of renting an EC, let me know, I have the name of a guy who rents them from off property for a really good price. He will deliver to your resort and pick it up when you are done. Much cheaper than the ones at the parks, and it goes much faster. You can take out twice as many tourists that get in your way in these carts.
If you decide to have someone push you in a wheelchair just remember one thing. Objects in front of you are closer than they appear to the chair pusher. I have taken out many many heels while pushing Richie, some intentional, some not.
Can't wait to see you and the gang who all look forward to your big sunshine smile.
One good thing about having a chair for this event..... You won't have to Congo in the tongo.....................Peggie

I need a wheelchair. I have uh, um, a bad case of tortoise, yeah that's it, tortoise. It is a rare disease that makes me go into a shell and not want to come out. The experience intensifies whenever I am around music and dancing. If I hear more than 3 notes of music, I can't stand any longer and must sit in a wheeled vehicle. Go karts make the pain go away but if we can't get a go kart at the All-Star Movies, I can settle for a wheel chair. Peggie, can your friend get me of of those Stephen Hawking models with the voice thing? I would like to make a few prank calls to Raul as long as it is a local call.

And for the record, the only time Lauri takes off that Diamondbacks hat is when she has her head examined which unfortunately is quite often from the sounds of things. Every time Matthew picks up a tool and attempts to fix something around the house Lauri tells me she needs to have her head examined for suggesting that Matthew was handy.

Lauri......sending you hugs and love from up in the North....you are so brave to share your personal life with all of us. God Bless you and Matt as you continue your search for the right treatment for you!

If I were going to the pin event....I should borrow your cane and bop the people for you! My cousin is in a wheelchair for 20 plus years now and he says the hardest part is the stares.....dah...maybe I shall get him a cane to use for bopping people. And paint it all pretty like Dabers wife has done to hers.

You are a beautiful person Lauri, and a brave soul...God Bless You!!!

I've reread these responses a couple of times and noticed an interesting -- albeit disturbing -- theme.

Pintrading is such a sit-down kind of hobby. One pictures groups of people, hunched over tables, myopically inspecting pins.

Apparently this must be merely our cover for our true personalities, when we give in to our natural tendenecies, and . .

* Beat unwitting people with canes . . .
* Run down unsuspecting tourists with variable speed-ECVs . . . :earseek:
* Push unmotorized wheelchairs with the vengence of a battleship commander. :smooth:

And I'm voluntarily going to spend three-days with this crowd . . .

OK!
:teeth:

Hi Lauri - i applaud you for being so honest about something that has to be difficult to talk about with all of us. You know that our prayers and best wishes are with you.
...and about that wheelchair.. literally and figuratively i have pushed Roger around for many years (at WDW, of course) get the electric one - he tells me it is so much easier. Have a wonderful time at the pin event - wish we were there with you. Caroline:D

Hey Sis,
I'm glad you shared this with everyone. I think you can see now that everyone is just glad you are coming to the event!
We all love you no matter what. And as Alshley said, I have double stroller experience too, so you know I'm here to help! ;) ( but the ecv sounds like more fun for you! ;) )

I personally think having a cane to smack sharks with sounds like a great idea! And I'm afraid Robyn may have found out some things about all of us that we really didn't want to admit! LOL Maybe we should be careful about what we all post at once hehe

Lauri, it all boils down to one thing: We love you.

HUGS!
Kathi

I won't see you at the event, but I'm sending pixiedust your way that you will have a good week.
You take care and have a great time.

Lauri...from Mom & m to you...hugs!!!

Lookin' forward to seein' you for the event in a few weeks!

Buggin'
Amber

Lauri,
Hugs. I will be on a cane and probably in a wheelchair myself much if the time. Beside royally busting my leg and ankle I have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and diabetes. I know how much it can be a fight just to keep energy levels up. I hurt all the time. But we will persevere and continue.
We'll just have to have a cane and chair brigade in the Boa Brigade
