To mod or to value that is the question.

We (2 adults 1 4yo) are planning to go 9/18-9/24 trying to decide between Pop, POFQ, and CB. Before any discounts (not planning on free dining) it is about $300 more total for either mod over pop. We have stayed at Pop before ad enjoyed it, we do not spend much time in the room but will use the pool and DH is a bed hog so I kind of hated the double but it is not a deal breaker for me. I really liked the new kids splash area at POFQ especially since this trip we are not bringing my MIL with us for an extra pair of hands (last trip ds was only 2). I have looked at too many reviews and need opinions from other Disney nuts. thanks in advance

Our first several trips we stayed at Value and were perfectly happy. We didn't spend much time in the room. It was fine. Then we tried POFQ and never went back. Nothing wrong with Values and would still stay there, but just really liked POFQ. The small size is a huge bonus. One bus stop. Little things like two sinks help make getting ready in the morning much quicker! Coffee maker in the room is nice. The bigger beds are definitely nice. Compact size. Covered bus stop.

And IF, big IF, there is free dining, you'll have the full plan instead of just the QS plan. Now, POFQ may not be included, but then you may want to look at a different mod. The upgrade to the regular dining plan is a HUGE bonus over the QS plan.

The beds seal the deal for us, but with a Port Orleans resort you'll also have the boat transportation to Disney Springs which is really nice too. Having more dining options at the resort and pools with slides can be nice too.

POFQ is where I'd stay. When there are more than 2 people in the room (kids included in that count), a moderate is a better option. POFQ is really lovely -- we've stayed at all the moderates and it is our favorite. Nice food court, the pool slide will enchant your DS, and the play area is well designed.

Personally, I'd stay at the moderate but that is just because I dislike the values. However, having said that, if your budget is tight and you already know what you are getting into at Pop, I'd say stay there.

POFQ would be my choice. Especially with a little one. They will love the pool area!

I think there is a BIG step up between the moderates and values and I've stayed at every one. Harder question for me to answer is between mods and deluxe because I don't think the added amenities of a deluxe justify the price difference for a lot of folks. If you can swing it, pick a moderate and carve out some time to enjoy the resort.

I've stayed at art of animation in a little mermaid room, pop and CB. I found the buses horrible at CB in comparison to the values. We spent more time circling the resort than I cared for at CB. If you do a mod, I would look for one with 1 bus stop for the entire resort, which may only be POFQ. The extra space at the mod was nice, and so was the pull down bed, but not sure it made it worth the transportation headaches.

We have never stayed at a mod, ds and i stayed at bc on a family trip and dh stayed at aklkv (his fam sis is dvc) and pop as a family. This trip is a tribute to my dad who passed away recently. I can't justify spending the money for a deluxe but I am thinking it would be nice to stay mod this time. Thank you everyone for your replies! They are giving me ammunition with dh.

POFQ because of the little one. And PORS is just a boat ride away or a nice short walk from the French Quarters, so you can enjoy the perks of this resort as well. And the boat takes you to Disney Springs too!

Will you be riding the buses? September will still be very hot and one of the reasons I like the mods in hotter weather is for the covered bus stops.

Yes we will last trip was October 2014 at POP so not much different. dates are not set yet as we are waiting for hubby to pick vacations other 2 options for dates are oct 2-8 or nov 6-12. He picks vacations next week for the year so I can really start planning and figuring then. I raelly want POFQ but without a discount (and they are rarely included) I'm guessing we will end up at CB or POP. The buses at CB worry me a bit with the multiple stops and the size of the resort being so large. :scared:

If I had to choose among those 3, it would be POFQ. The resort is so small, which is nice.. the walk anywhere, to the pool, food court or bus stop is short, no matter where your room is. We prefer the queen beds, so we haven't stayed in a value for quite some time, since the mods switched to queens. I know you said you won't spend much time in the room, but having that little bit of extra space in the rooms and double sinks to get ready, bigger and more comfortable beds to sleep in.. those all seal the deal for us. Your little one would enjoy the pool and new splash area more at FQ. The boats to Disney Springs are also great.. nice and relaxing, and a good way to get away from the buses.

CBR is our favorite Moderate so that would be our choice. What you will get at CBR over Pop:

Bigger rooms
Double sinks
Queen beds
Ceiling fans
Coffee maker in room
Multiple covered bus stops
Pool slides
Hot tubs
Table service restaurant
Lusher grounds
Laid back relaxed atmosphere

Now it's up to you to decide of the above amenities are worth the extra $$.

In a heartbeat....CSR or POR by far for $300...But only you can make that decision.... But for that little, you get a whole lot more out of a Mod, IMHO....

Hi,
I would say Carribean Beach out of the three. I didn't care for POFQ last year when we went. I did love the resort, don't get me wrong it's beautiful! But I didn't care for the rooms. On the other hand though Carribean beach is really spread out compared to POFQ so it depends on how far you want to walk around at your resort as well. Enjoy your trip!
