We arrive at MCO at 1:00 on Wednesday PM (7/7), we're staying near dtd the night before we had to Port Canaveral for our 3day cruise.

My common sense side says "save the $200+ and go to dtd and mini-golf", but I hate the thought of being that close to the Magic Kingdom and not going....

The kids and I were there between Christmas and New Years with my sister and her 3 kids...but DH hasn't been in 2 years.

What are your opinions......Hmmmmmm!

:sunny:

I totally understand! We actually thought about going to Universal but I knew the whole time I was there I'd be thinking of how close I am to Disney and wished I could go, so we're just going to Disney as usual. I couldn't stand to be so close and not go to MK. You should go!!

I say if you can afford to do it you should.

I would go nuts being in Orlando and not going to MK.

Have a great time!

I couldn't be that close and not go to the Magic Kingdom. And as for the money what's $200.00 more considering the whole cost of a vacation.

I'd go. The park should be open until at least 9 or 10 that night, so you can really get your money's worth. You can save some money some snacks with you or even picking up some fast food before you head to the parks.

If money is really tight, talk it over with your husband. Since he hasn't been to MK for a while, his point of view may matter more. I don't think you'll have a lot of expensives once you get on your cruise, will you? Isn't just about everything prepaid? A nice alternative would be to go to a special dinner at one of the resorts, but those can get really pricey too.

go to the park!!!!!!!!!!

we just did a cruise in april and i couldnt bring myself not to at least swing by and say hi to mickey....we ended up doing 2 nights at AKL...spending one day at magic kingdom....it was great..nice warm up for the cruise as well...

:)

I can hear my bank account emptying!

We're doing US/IOA after the cruise...Kids (and parents) love the FOTL access when you stay on site (a godsend in the July heat) and the tickets are cheaper than Disney...$95 each for 5 days.

This all started with cheap airfare tickets ($129 RT ea) that I found on Orbitz in April. I figured we had to go at that price, we couldn't afford not to (that wasn't my common sense side talking)....$4,000 later, I'm trying to decide if I should spend another $200.....and cram one more thing into an already busy vacation.

I'm guessing we probably will....I looked at the price of Mini-golf and that would cost us $40 just for that....I'll talk myself into this yet!

Thanks for helping;)

We were in a similar situation a couple years ago. Our only difference was we stayed at the Poly(arrived there around 11:00) and we didnt have our kids with us.
We skipped the parks in favor of doing stuff we usually cant do with the kids. While it was tough to avoid the MK, especially being so close, being able to see the castle and hear the sounds all day from the beach helped, and I really didnt feel like we missed out. With that said we did go back to the parks a month and a half later with the kids, so I might have felt differently if we didnt have that trip planned.

Will there be a Mickey's Christmas party or will they be done by then? An e-night?

It's a hard choice, but I'd probably save the money or go to the park which stays open the longest.

I don't know, to me, $200 for vacation is not an issue.

However, you'll arrive at MCO at 1pm (if there is no flight delay).
The earliest you'll get to the hotel is at 2pm.
By the time you checked in, it's going to be 3pm.
You'll get to the entrance (after buying tickets and such) at 3:30pm.

If I were you (and stayed very close to DTD), I'll go to DTD and play minigolf. There is more to the magic than MK alone.

We talked about it again this weekend, we really aren't sure...I'm guessing we'll make the decision when we get to the hotel...Depending on the time. We have a rental car, so we'll definately drive over to MK (another $10 to park) if we go.

Thanks for all your replies, I'll let you know what we do when we get back....

One week to go......:jumping1:

Look at it this way: if you spend the evening at DTD, you'll probably actually spend more money on the shopping than if you spent $200 to go to MK and ride some rides. See? There you go! There's the rationalization you were looking for! Off you go to Magic Kingdom!

I would hate myself if I was that close to MK and didn't go. If you are really that torn by this decision, I say go to the park cause it sounds like you really want to go!!If your DH hasn't been there in 2 yrs there are some new attractions such as Mickey's Philharmagic which is worth the price of admission itself. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will have a blast!!
