To keep rewardzing or stop rewardzing....THAT is the question!

Well folks, what do you think? Are you going to continue with these programs? I'm really on the fence with this one. As of today, I'm doing disneyawards, mypoints, milesource, searchcactus & howhot. I have lost gc's from milesource and mypoints that I'm wondering if they'll ever come. Now, the daily points from mypoints is gone (maybe temporarily???) and howhot is down yet again. I'm losing hope here...and fast! I don't mean to be a voice of pessimism, but I'd be interested to hear what you are all thinking today? Perhaps there's some optimistic soul out there who is willing to give me a kick in the $#%^#^@?? TIA! ;)

I'm not going to stop working towards our trip until I can get as much as I can for our disney trip. My goal was a free trip, and I realize that I will never be able to get it free now, but I've gotten pretty close. I would have liked to have been able to keep doing this and saved a ton on a trip each year, but I doubt that will ever happen again. So, like I said, I'm not going to stop them for the trip until it gets close.

Then after that, I'm not going to stress over them. What we are going to do after the trip is start saving for a down payment on a home. I don't figure there is alot that I can get from the rewards for that, but figured that I could keep doing the programs like searchcactus that actually send cash. I am also going to keep doing milesource so that I can feed my bath and body works addiction LOL. :)

I probably won't stop the rewards until the rewards themselves all shut down.

Most days I do wonder if it's worthwhile. After all, rewards are not what they used to be.

Still, today was a pretty good day-$10 Target GC from mypoints, $50 Macy's GC from milesource, and $5 pinecone research for a test product. As long as I get an occasional day like today, I guess I'll keep clicking away.

AND a trip to Europe this past April from alta vista.com rewards (RIP). That was a total fluke and will never happen again, ever.

Hope you keep doing rewards. We'd miss ya if you left the board.

dmslush........how long have you been doing reward programs? Sounds like you've been very successful! Do you think you'll be able to pay for at least half of your trip through these programs?? I only started in mid February so I've only accumulated about $100 worth of gc's. But you know, that's $100 I wouldn't have had before. I'm going to be cashing out with searchcactus this month for the first time so that's a cheque I'll be thrilled to receive!!!

LI Debbie! WOW!!!! A trip to Europe? That's fantastic! What was your reaction when you realized you got the trip?

Thanks to you both for that little boost. I think I will continue at least until my trip in October. I confess these programs are rather addictive..... Is there a 10-step program???? ;) ;)

Oh, we have more than paid for over half of the trip already. I have 4 people here that are doing the rewards, (me, mom, brother, and sweetie) mom and brother aren't going on the trip, just me sweetie and our daughter. But, mom and bro want to help us get there, so they are helping.

We started clicking exclusively for the trip late last july or early august, I can't remember which it was. That was when the freeride bus was at it's peak and you could easily make $3 per person a day. Just with the webcertificates that we have gotten since then, we have paid for 2 five day park hopper plus tickets, and over $300 on the hotel room. We are staying at the allstars and only need $200 more to have that paid off. I'm hoping we'll be able to get that much more in webcerts (I hope, I hope!! LOL)

We have a little over $300 in disney dollars that I am going to pay for character meals with. Plus a lot of other food gc, rain forest, ghiradellis, pizza hut, burger king, planet hollywood, and olive garden. I really don't think we will have to pay for much food except for if we eat at a counter (which we probably will).

I'm saving all of the cash from searchcactus and pinecone for the car rental and the last ticket. We have a $100 in gas cards, but with the price of gas, we are going to budget more for that. We are also going to budget in some emergency money and extra for spending.

I figure we will stop clicking exclusively for the trip sometime in september so that we have time to redeem and everything get to us. So, by the time we finish, we will have been doing the rewards for the trip for a little over a year. I think that is pretty good considering I couldn't have gotten a job and saved that much when you factor in childcare, gas, etc.

a little over $1000.00 for WDW
put 953.00 in my son's college fund.
pay for all of Christmas 2000
and my annie present to my DH which was a $800 video camers last year!

So my answer is YES YES YES

I just have to ask...If you are getting that much money, what programs are you doing?? all of the programs I am doing right now are slower earners than that. I hope we get enough in GC's and on our webbie to pay for alot, but not as much as you Mal!!! That's fantastic, but what is the trick???

Crisjo,
We made most of our money from freeride and beenz. There is really nothing right now that is a fast earner. At the peak of the rewards, I was doing freeride, beenz, suzykats, powerdime, mypoints, searchcactus, milesource, (it seems like there were a few more but I can't remember them)

Like I said in an earlier post about freeride, when the bus was at its peak, you could easily make $3 a day. With 4 in the family that was over $80 a week!! Boy wouldn't that be nice now!!

except I would have to add PointClick,JaBoom, and several other now defunct Reward programs to that list last year at this time the money was raking in although rewards have slowed down for the time being they have not gone away and I may eat these words but I do not feel that they will. the internet is just starting to really take off and the future is bright.

oh and we only X2 in our household.

I really needed this thread today, because I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about RP's too. :(

Glad to hear you guys are hanging tough! I don't post that often, but I'm always checking in. ;)

Thanks for the pep talk.:)

Mal,
I had forgot about Jaboom. For the first week, that one was too good to be true! I sat up the first night for 4 hours listening to that crappy music and made $65 in amazon gift cert! I used that one and there was one other one where we rated music, I can't remember the name of it, but I used it and jaboom and was able to buy all of my daughters home school supplies for the entire year.

This gave me a little boost too.

I just wish I had found these sites a year ago!

My trip is in Sept. and I have only been doing this since April and just found out about some of them this past month.

So, I'm still a newbie.

I have mixed feelings about the rewards right now!!! I was very keen when I first
discovered the boards, and signed up for about ten different programs ( I know, I am
greedy)....But, since that time, Beenz is gone, Suzy Kats is not crediting, Netflip is just a
pain .....takes so long to get a few cents credit!!! Then, I read the posts about people
not getting their rewards after spending so much time on them!!! So I wonder if it is
worth it. Having said all that, I do believe the rewards are worth it, but my personal
choice is to just do the ones that take very little time...( with the exception of the Disney
Awards program as I think it can fly if given a chance). For me, I just can't spend hours
on a computer so will have to be happy with a slow, but steady climb to the payout levels.
Whatever I can earn will be appreciated. Also, I want to say I check here first every day
and thanks for all the tips and encouragement from everyone here on the rewards board.
It has made a great difference in "getting the job done".

I love the rewards programs and the great folks on this board. There is something nice about getting "free" money. The real alure for me is that I am home watching the kids all week...I work nights during the week and days during the weekends...and its a nice way to watch kids and earn extra cash. I can't take most of the overtime available so this is noce to earn some $$ toward our trips (notice thats plural, always hoping!!).

I started about 13 months ago and from what i was reading then the programs were already on the downswing. Now so many are a pain that i don't bother doing them. Come this fall, when all 3 kids are in school full time I'll be dropping these programs(except Milesource, I like milesource). I can work one shift of OT and make a months work of rewards benefits easily.

I'll probably be better off going to garage sales and posting stuff on ebay in order to make $$ for a trip. Next fall I'll have the time.

PS...Hey over 800 posts. Is that too few or too many?:D

Congratulations, Jdads2 on 800 posts!! :) Way to go!

I gotta agree though here...Freeride, Beenz and Jaboom were awesome programs!! I made so much off of them..I will keep clicking, I am sure, until these programs die out...but right now I am too addicted to stop! LOL

I used to do Free Ride and Trocamania when they were at their peak..paid for our entire stay at Courtyard By Marriott in Disney Village with GCs from Marriott with them..also dinners at Rain Forest, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, the Crab House in Crossroads or near there...I made a good income on them in 2000 and had a great trip with them...

I am only doing Blink now and watching to see if Free Ride becomes anything like a rewards program again....Trocamania seems to have pretty much disappeared too...

Can anyone tell is Blink reliable in sending out there WEbcertificates emails...are people surely getting them? I hate to put all this time into it for nothing of course..thanks for your help....
