To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

Be focused! I think you’ll like you when you’re focused ;)

Have a great week! Enjoy and have fun celebrating such a great training cycle! We’ll all be cheering for you!

You've had a great year and I'm excited to see what you accomplish in 2018!

Add me to the Team Badger PR club:

Half PR (with a 10K PR during that race)
25K PR even in hot conditions

And I'm pretty sure I would have gotten that marathon PR had I actually been able to run it, so I guess that will have to wait for 2018. :-)

Last Weather Update!

The 5k, 10k, and HM are holding pretty consistent (just under 30 wind chill) and the marathon is warming up a bit. Glad we extended our trip until Tuesday as now we might be able to sneak in some pool time.

I forgot to add to my training cycle update. After the Lakefront Marathon, I was unhappy with my weight situation. After consuming 3 apple fritters (that's like 6 pounds of dough at least), I was weighing 169 pounds. Even right up to the marathon I was at 167. I knew I was carrying a little extra weight and wanted to slowly lose weight while also making endurance gains. The goal was 1 pound per week. I put in my information into MyFitnessPal to get a general idea of where I wanted to be calorically on a daily basis. Then, I just did that. I eat a similar meal each day so I knew what it would take. I didn't track it every day but merely tried to make good choices.

Today, I'm down to 157.6 and right where I want to be. So, the training cycle was a success from a running standpoint as well as getting my weight back where I feel my best.

What a great year you had Billy, some serious miles and a lot to be proud of.

The one thing that stuck out to me was how much more hill training I did this year versus the last two years.

Did they build a hill on your kangaroo route or something??? Well done! Hills are awesome for training...you can't beat that feeling of pacmanning runners going up a hill during a race. It's next-level Pac Man. Like Pac Man 2.

Thanks Mike!

I shortened the route over the summer to allow more access to water since I wasn't carrying water anymore. A by-product of that change was doing way more hill work. Same route, just cut out some flat sections unknowingly I guess. Once I noticed how much more hills I was doing, I stuck with it when Fall/Winter came.

Love the Pac-Man reference!

Finally caught up and wanted to say that I hope G is feeling better and that you continue to dodge the bug. Your 2017 training was incredibly impressive and I’m excited to see how you do with Dopey!

Also, count me among those crediting PRs to you:
I’ve PRd every 5k I’ve run for time (I had a fun run in Nov that I didn’t race)
I PRd the 10K
I ran my first half (so an automatic PR)
I have had several mileage records
I looked and felt better than I had in years
I came to love running

So thank you!

Congrats great time! Actually think I saw you walking from bus with a DIS sign but it seemed weird to run over with the kids and ask if you were dopeybadger. Hope to meet up with everyone on marathon day. Happy running tomorrow.
