To hand stamp or not to hand stamp.....

Didn't think of it on my own LOL, read it here a long time ago. WDW has to think of these things because if they is a way to get somethign for nothing, there are a lot of people who will do it.

I still can't believe that scam several yrs ago where the brother beat his sister so they could sue WDW. They tried to make it look as if the hotel was unsafe and she had been attacked and raped in her room. Turned out the family were professional scam artist. I think 60 min covered the story.

I say I like to get stamped just so I can go into a blacklight attraction and figure out what it is.

You're also a cheap date, too, huh? :teeth:

A CM told us the same thing as Feralpeg - "I was told that you need a handstamp even with an AP. The purpose of the handstamp is to allow entry if something happens to their system. Even though you have the AP in your hand, they will not let you in if the system cannot verify it and you don't have a handstamp."

Good point and I always want to be able to get into the parks, etc with my AP.

But, with an AP, you should not be denied access as long as the AP is good and you have another form of ID, even if the system is done. Another CM told us this a few years back.

We get the handstamps, it's easier just to know...

Just got back from 14 days at the World.
I have and AP and have not gotten my hand stamped in the past three years.
On the last visit, at the exits of each park there was only one CM giving hand stamps. When our little group went through the park exit, the cast member was saying that the stamp was not needed with the "new" tickets. some people breeezed through the exits, some stopped for the hand stamp: it appears now that it is a personal preference to have or have not.
I did not think about a computer malfunction, so I think on my next visit I will get the hand stamps again. Afterall, they do look good glowing in the dark while fighting the forces of Vurg.

I really don't understand all of the talk about getting a hand stamp. It takes no time to get one, if you had to go somewhere else to get it and it took time then I would understand, but what is so important about not getting one. It does not show, it does not take any extra timne and if it makes my getting back in the parks easier what is the big converstion about. If WDW says we need a hand stamp, why does it have to be argued. You go into other business that have their rules and do it, why not here.

I am sorry if I don't agree with the others, but this is my opionion.

As an AP holder who stopped getting stamped, I'm curious how often the system goes down and for what length of time?.:scratchin

Been an AP holder for 10 years and never get stamped. Always have a picture ID with me for verfication. Since we have to use the biometric entry EVERYTIME we enter, there is no sense in getting a hand stamp. Since our name and expiration dates are posted on the back it's easy to verify. I've never had a problem. However, when we have "hopper" friends with us, we always direct them to the hand stamping area.

Depends on what time of day you exit. I don't know about other parks, but at AK, we usually have 2 people on exits from about 1:30pm onward, and as the day gets later, more of our entrances get converted to exits, all with handstamps.

As to the CM that said hand stamps are not required with the "new" tickets, I'm going to guess that they were at the Magic Kingdom. 90% of the people that come through my gates with tickets that scan "Already Used" and say they were told they did not need a handstamp were told this by someone at the MK. This is not true. The handstamp is required for all re-entries using any type of Hopper pass. Annual passes do not need a hand stamp as long as you have a valid photo id with you, as well as your AP. (yes, we at AK have repeatedly asked our managers to talk to someone at MK about the incorrect information being given out)
