You don;t need ot go to a service center to get a FastLane pass or EZ Pass; you can do it all on the web.duck_adoo said:...I just found the link, looks like it's only about $27 to install. And if it's returned in good shape I get back $23. Do you think it's worth it? I'd have to go up to Mass from RI to get it. It doesn't look like there's anywhere south of Boston where I can get to a service center.
TIA
Just note that they also have EZ Pass in Maine, so if you go to Maine much (or more often than NY or NJ), it might pay to get it from them, especially since there is a discount on Maine Turnpike tolls for those using the Maine-based transponders. The link is:www.ezpassmaineturnpike.com.
You could get an EZ Pass and then return it after the drive to FL, but I have always found it very handy to have access to EZPass both here in Mass and back in my home state of Maine. By the end of the summer, EZ Pass will work in New Hampshire tolls too. It is a HUGE time saver. And $27 just isn't that much to pay for the convenience it will afford you as long as you have it. Then again, I bought a SunPass for when we drive in Florida, and hold onto it for whenever we drive there; that's in addition to the transponders we have for Mass and Maine (there's a discount associated with each one, so we have one of each, even tho either will work in the other system).
As for the route, I think in your shoes I'd go 95 just as far as TF Green Airport, where I'd catch a Southwest flight
