EEEKK! WE are bringing our dd to WDW in April. Right now she is still sleeping in her crib and hasn't offered to try to get out. She is 2 and 1/2 and loves "her" bed.. Her 2 Grandmas take care of her during the week and she is still in her crib at their houses too.. The bed rails are on their way as we speak.. Should I request a crib? Request bed rails? Neither? I hadn't planned to request a crib (we are staying at the Dolphin for 8 nights), but then I got thinking, what if she won't sleep in a "big bed"!!! I need some experienced toddler parents here! HELP!!!:earseek:

If she's used to a crib, you probably don't want to change the equation over a vacation. Took both of my kids some getting used to when they switched to a bed. If you do have to use a bed, definitely use bedrails. They will make the bed feel more like a crib.

I would probably request both. If one bed is set up with bed rails and you also have a crib you'll havea lot more flexibility that first night or so. I know that I'm often wrong when I try to guess how my kids will react in a new situation. Invariably at that age if I was sure that they would want to sleep in a crib, at one AM they would be screaming their heads off and want to sleep in a bed. I kind of believe in the whole Murphy's law thing. If you are completely prepared for all possibilities, then she'll be a little angel and sleep with no problems at all.

My son is three and is still in a crib. He has never tried getting out either. We spent a night in a hotel on the way to disney with no crib. He had a rough night sleeping. We also did the no crib thing at my sisters in S.C. and some nights falling asleep took a loooong time. We decided to use abbf at disney and what a difference. He went to bed right away and was able to sleep all night without a problem. I would recommend the crib.

Have a great time! It's a great age to meet the characters.

Along with your DD's comfort, you want to think of her safety in the hotel room. I don't know if she gets out of her crib at home, but if she does not, and she is in a bed, this new freedom may invite some wondering in a room which may not have all the safety features your home has.

I saw full size cribs in the halls at the Dolphin last week and with the size of the rooms it should fit fine. IIRC they are offered free of charge. My theory was to keep them in the crib as long as possible - YMMV.

If it were me I would just plan on the crib and hope for the best. I would pack a sheet from home as well as her lovies, this way the smell and feel will be familiar, this always worked for us. You can also request a babyproofing kit for free at the dolphin. If need be you can call housekeeping for the bedrails if the crib dosen't work.
