More bad news released this morning at 9.30 for U.K. industrial production which unexpectedly fell in January, has placed more pressure on the Pound this morning, started declining at 9.31 and at 9.42 it's $1.48366.

Its gone back up again though, once people realised why the manufacturing figures went down. One offshore platform went down, which was a main hub that took out 17 other fields (including one of my companies). I would personally hold off buying dollars at the moment because I reckon we will start getting better UK economic data for the next couple of months.

Wish I could We go in 4 weeks and not gonna risk it dropping anymore so going to buy the next couple of days :(

so strange!
so the dollar is stronger than the pound?
i can't understand why the dollar is falling against the shekel!
i need to convert dollars into shekels, but the dollar has been in a free fall against it.
I didn't realise that the pound is in even worse shape.

it all makes no sense to me at all. There is no logical reason i can see why the shekel would be in better shape than the dollar.
i know the economy is stronger than the US economy - no question. But there are also much more significant and possibly dangerous unknowns.

Basically, there's no logic in any of it!

I changed $100 today to put in DHs anniversary card tomorrow. 1.43 at the Co-op. Rubbish :( I'm holding out to change the 2k spends but feeling the dress of it all now!

What's the chances of it going up again before july? I really hope it goes up!!

As every has said noone knows. As you have a while I would hold out. Those of us who go in the next month obviously are a bit more worried but when I went in dec 2008 it was 1.35 so 1.45 is better than that. Mo matter what am going to change £1000 the weekend or if it goes up to 1.47 will do it then

FairFx was UP from 1.45ish on Tue to 1.4615 today so that is an improvement...

I always look at the positive!

Well we took the plunge at 1.48 and bout £600 worth from fairfx last night. We now have nearly $1700 for food so just have our spending money to change. Its near enough to 1.50 so im happy with that.

I got an email today about a 2 hour flash currency sale on Travelex tomorrow (Thursday) from 11am-1pm. No idea what the rates will be but thought I would let everyone know ^_^

A couple of sales on from 11am this morning.
Travelex on for 2 hours, their rate has just increased from $1.4751 to $1.4825

http://www.mytravelcash.com/ on for 7 hours but looks to be only on the currency card not cash, their rate up from $1.4693 to $1.4848

I hope I have enough for this trip to use cash, something I rarely do but bought a load off a customer last year over $1.60/£1. If not I will put on credit card upto $1.5189 today, hope it rises a bit more in next 2 weeks.

Bailed and purchased £500 on Fair FX today, on one of their pre paid cards. Exchnage rate at 1.5 so happy with that.

Hopefully it'll go up a tiny bit before I change the rest :)

I am perfectly happy with 1.50 - I have been using that as my 'guide' for estimating for a few years now. Anything extra is a bonus. In my opinion, you got a good rate. Well done :thumbsup2

Yeah I think so. I'd always said to myself when its at 1.5 I'll buy. I still need to change about another £1200 but Im just going to see what happens over the next few days.
