We would really like to add another 100 points (addonitis extreme) at either AKV or SSR and are strongly considering doing so while we can get the double bonus points incentive. But, we will have to pay $104 per point.

We dont really "have" to have more points but it would allow us an extra trip each year.

Are we just being lured by the 200 "free points"? Has anyone done the math for paying full retail for the points as far as break-even, etc.? Will resale prices ever catch up to the $104 price? Will we have paid too much even when you factor in the cash value of the 200 bonus points?

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Ignore the extra 100 points. Pretend it does not exist now would you still buy? As far as being to expensive I ought @ $65 per point and thought that was to expensive!!! That is a judgment call you'll have to make. No right or wrong answer.

Hi global_mom!

Sorry to bust in on your thread, but I was looking for more details on the double incentive. I also have addonitis to the EXTREME, (I just bought in last month!) and I would really love to add on to AKV for the extra points and I was looking for information on the current incentives to see if it I will have enough with the incentives to book a room over NYE.

Thanks for any help you can provide, like how long they will be offering double incentive. Thanks!

Oh, one more thing...I agree with what some others have posted in another thread, the next few years may be a little tough with the extra developers points and all the new owners, but I think that once the new AKL building is opened, it should all settle down. Good luck in your decision, we truly love AKL!

Hi Poohmom: I dont know how long the double points incentive will last. Our thought is that if we bought 100 more points we would get the 200 extra points. Those 200 would cover our travel thru the next 7 months (into 2008) and we could bank all of our Dec. 2007 points into 2008. Then for 2008 we would have 700 points which would cover several trips with extra family members in attendance.

We currently have HH and SSR and thought that 100 points at AKV would give us the 11 month advantage for holiday season. Of course, once AKV is built out it will be quite large and therefore the 11 month window may not be as critical.

So much to think about and we dont want to pay too much ($104 per point). We just became members in the past month also so we dont want to over do it. However, we have been to WDW 17 times and dont plan to stop going.

Also, DVC is certainly cheaper than buying a home at the beach!! We already own a second home in the North Carolina Mountains and that costs us way more than DVC ever could and we only use it about 10 days per year.

You are so right about so many things! I do mortgages for a living and I often wonder how much time people spend at their vacation homes. I love the flexibility of the DVC compared to owning one home. But then again, your vacation home will increase in value and it has no end date.

Anyway, you sound like you are going through the exact struggle with the add on that I am. I think I might just be being greedy...:confused3

Oh well, I hope it will last awhile longer because I may have 2 or 3 more trips to take in Winter 2008 for my kids' cheer and band competitions at WDW, then it will be an excellent excuse to add on! I could either stay on a cash reservation, or get more points! What a hard choice?!?!?! NOT!

I say that we should go for it! Life is too short and family vacations are some of the best experiences our kids will ever have.

I think that I will go ahead and order 100 more points. Yipeee!!!!
