To book or not to book???

We are going to Disney for the first time in February. I am torn between booking now or waiting to see if there are any offers for the first week. We will be going regardless, but will be going for a longer period of time if a good discount comes out (hoping for FD). How easy is it to change a reservation if needed? Is it better to book for the longer time period and delete days, or to book for the shorter and add days?

Since you're going regardless of whether or not a discount is offered for that time, I would book now to make sure you get the resort/room type you want. It's easier to book the maximum number of nights you think you might need and take away any unwanted nights than it is to try and add nights later. If free dining or a room discount comes out for your dates, the discount can easily be applied to your current reservation provided your resort/room type is available under that promo. With that said, sometimes you need to be to be flexible with your resort in order to take advantage of a discount as not every resort and/or every room type is always offered with discounts. One thing to keep in mind is if you book room only now and want to switch to a package later (i.e., free dining), the room only would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit as money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. The same goes for changing from a package to a room only reservation (with the deposit for room only being 1 night's room rate + tax). HTH .
