To Bank or NOT to Bank

Seeking assistance in making a decision (before I call and ask MS) if I should bank my points into 2010 UY then make a ressie - JUST in case we would need to cancel.

We have never been in a situation where we have not used all of our points in a given year. But we have no plans to go down to WDW between today and November. My UY/month is August. I have about 177 points to bank.

We want to try and get into HH the first week of August. I do not know if there are rooms available - but I know it is PRIME season and could be difficult. So my thinking is that if I BANK now and we cannot get in I am ok no points lost. If I bank now and a waitlist comes through DVC uses the banked points first again I am ok...... BUT what if we get the ressie and I need to cancel the August vacation - since they are banked points would they go back into the 2010 UY? or do they then have LIMITS???

If you bank Aug UY 2009 points into 2010 they will then be available to be used for reservations between August 1, 2010 and July 31st, 2011. If you were to get your HH reservation for Aug and for some reason then needed to cancel the banked points will stay available for use in the time period I listed above - they essentially will be the same as your 2010 points except you will not be able to bank them again.
