If you could move south to escape the north cold winters where would you move to? I would love to move to So Cali but do not think we could afford it. My second choice would be the west coast of Florida.

I wouldn't I love the 4 seasons. I wouldn't mind moving to Colorado. But if I had to pick I would choose Tenn or Kentucky.

Phoenix area. My parents retired down there and I love the climate...at least in winter. I haven't visited in the summer yet.

My SIL's parents retired to north central Arkansas, I guess it's a really pretty area and while they do get four seasons and a bit of snow in winter (and ice storms on occasion), it's a lot more mild than further north most of the winter season.

I'm totally in love with Oregon but if I can't go back there and had to move somewhere warm, I'd go to Palm Beach, FL. My grandparents have had a place there since 1976 so I know the area well.

I also love the four seasons. I think the furthest south I'd go would be North Carolina. I love Florida but seasonally I wouldn't see myself living there in the summer or the fall honestly.

DH and I plan to retire to Costa Rica. Hopefully within the next 5-7 years. Just waiting for all these kids to get through college and out of the house!

I too love 4 season ~ we have hot summers - boating 10 minutes away @ beautiful Pineview and then the "Greatest Snow on Earth" in the winter - 15 minutes to Snowbasin ~ Powder Mountain & Wolf Mountain

If I did move to escape winter I stay in the Southwest - I don't do humidity - Arizona, S Nevada, New Mexico, S CA

I can't live without seasons, so unless a job forced us to move, I can't see myself ever choosing to live in the South.

I have visited both and while I love Southern Cali, it would take too much of my budget for housing plus too much travel time back to see family in Indiana...so would actually choose the eastern coast of Florida...love the Ormond Beach area, even in August it was pleasantly comfortable. I don't like temps much over 85 and with the ocean breeze it was beautiful. I also know that family/friends could drive down to visit fairly easily..not so much to California.

No, we would not move. We love the 4 seasons. HOWEVER, that does not stop us from taking a mid-winter trip to someplace warm, preferably a cruise to the Caribbean. Makes the rest of the winter fly by.

Our cost of living is very low here. House is paid for. We have checked moving to areas in the south and we couldn't even buy a house ... if we sold ours here it would make a down payment for a house there. Since DH is retired, having another mortgage is out of the question. Friends of ours have rented a condo around Fort Myers for years during the winter and we might try this for a month or so in the future.

I would choose something middle of the road....not too hot or too cold.

Colorado is appealing, as is Eastern Ky, Va and Tenn.....If I did Florida it would have to be along the shore, but more northern. But I am afraid of hurricanes so don't know if I could really make the move.

DH and I have talked about moving to North or South Carolina after he retires, but I don't know if I can live without the seasons. I love the snow and in the north, they know how to clear it quickly and people know how to drive in it. So, the jury is still out. If I didn't care about being close to our children, I would love to live part of the year in St Croix. Absolutely beautiful there!

I've lived in Kentucky, southern states and the northern states along the coastal areas or within 2 hours of it.



Hands down out of all the cities I have lived in Kentucky has always called me back. I only spent a year and a half in the state but still it was just that nice! The south is way to hot and the North is just way to snowy in some parts. Kentucky had four seasons, great people, friendly cities, easy roads to handle, minimal traffic, affordable and jobs still payed well.

I haven't been anyplace in the U.S. that's as pretty as the town I live in, so I don't want to move. I do like to escape for a week in the winter though if we can manage it.

We had plans to move to Haines City, Florida area in 2 years. Due to recent changes within the family, DH may move as early as a year from NOW!

I'm from Pa & we are actually thinking of moving to Tenn. next year.Son moved down in August, loves it after the home sickness was over. DH went down when DS moved ,I will be visiting & looking at houses sometime in fall or possibly as late as spring. I am the hard to sell.

Dh and I have this discussion every so often. As much as we love Florida We really don't want to live there year round. We are lovers of the three seasons we can live without the cold snowy/icy winters. We would love to head down in January And stay a few months. That would also give us the option of staying in different areas of Florida, we have friends who live in Bonita springs and I thought that was a nice area, we have also been to cape coral and liked it there, both are in the southwest of florida.
