I hope this isn't TMI - lately after I eat, my stomach becomes so bloated it almost looks like I'm pregnant - and I have pain in my right shoulder - I just wish someone would pop me....Anyone else have this?

i'm beginning to think it happens after certain foods. I had one beer tonight and ice cream......

It's horrible!

Jenny

It could be your gall bladder. It could also be acid reflux. I get shoulder pain from that sometimes. It freaks me out!

I ended up at the dr's yesterday for similar symptoms - also had pain in the center of my chest too! Dr thinks it might be my gallbladder causing the problem. I also have some issue with particular foods - we had corn beef & cabbage the night before this started so I thought maybe the butter & cabbage :confused3 gas related but Tums didn't really help and the symptoms started again the next morning 2 hours after I woke up. When I researched gallbladder symptoms, the pain radiating in the shoulder blade area is common.

My first thought was gallstones. When I was having an attack my stomach would get extremely bloated and was hard as a rock. I would also have intense shoulder and back pain. I found if I took some anti-gas pills as soon as I felt an attack coming on I could head it off. My first sympton was always the bloating

You should see a doctor because if it is gallstones your gallbladder needs to come out.

Another vote for gallbladder. Go get an ultrasound and avoid rich or fatty food (including alchohol, sorry!) until you get the results. Feel better.

I've had this and ended up having an ultrasound to look at my gallbladder but they didn't find any gallstones. But as a side note I had a laparoscopy years ago (they fill your abdomen with gas for the procedure). Later that night I thought I had two broken collarbones. They way I understand it your stomach is filled with gas which presses up on the diaphragm which presses up on your rib cage that presses up to your shoulders. At least that's what someone told me.

(I was so glad when I saw the title of this thread though that I screamed out loud to my DH because he thinks I'm nuts!)

While I didn't have the broken collarbones (OUCH!), I also had a lap. surgery last year. And for several days after that I had that same pain. And I know how that hurts. It sounds like others have given you other ideas about getting it checked! Good luck!

You are absolutely RIGHT!!! When they do laparoscopic surgery they bloat you full of gas and the gas is trying to escape. The soreness you describe is VERY common!

When I had my cholecystectomy they warned me about the possible shoulder pain due to the carbon dioxide that is used to inflate the abdomen. I did get it and it hurt like the dickens. It was more painful than my incisions.

WOW, me too, tho mine is always the left shoulder/clavicle area. sometimes radiates up the side of my neck. usually occurs after eating Mexican food. A few good belches and Im okay. My stomach doesnt bloat tho.

I'm glad I validated you to your DH:)

I have my yearly check up in a couple of weeks - it's been 2 hours since I posted and the shoulder pain has gone - but it's horrible!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. But I will tell my doctor about it.

I do think I'll stay away from beer and ice cream:sad2:

Thanks All

Jenny:)

My first thought when I read the start of the op. was gallbladder. I had mine out 4 years ago and I still remember that pain.

I thought gallbladder as well. Mine made me feel as though I was having a heart attack. It was the sickest I've ever been. I seriously thought I was dying. My doctor was convinced it was anything but my gallbladder because I hurt in the 'wrong place.' The ultrasound was the last test they did and by that time I couldn't even drink water without having an attack. My gallbladder had distended and was ready to rupture.

Oh, I do relate to gallbladder pain and feel sympathy for anyone who may be experiencing it.

I hope you feel better soon.

Gallbladder as well, it was the worst pain. I seriously did not think you could have that much pain and live.

I had one woman tell me that it was worse than labour.

The pain in my shoulder from the gas after surgery was more painful than the stitches for sure. I thought I was having a heart attack.
