TKers Take the Fifth!

Hey D&D! We went a little nuts with the pictures....again.

We actually love to listen to race on the radio. Those announcers just are so excited about the race and it makes it so enjoyable. We've never used the internet for the races. Where does DH go to get all the different camera angles?

Can I borrow that soapbox, D&D? I totally agree...sexism is alive and kicking in our society. Somehow being able to openly exploit women has become a sport. I applaud all of you raising young women. Its tough today. You make sure they kick butt, are proud to be strong and funny and smart and pretty.

I'd also like to add another "-ism" that seems totally acceptable: "fat-ism". People can openly mock fat people (I speak from experience). Apparently, being fat means that I don't have feelings or hearing. Yes, I would love to be skinny and sexy, but this is where I am now, and I'm going to live my life, not wait for it to happen when I drop XX pounds...I hate those weight loss commercials that are like, "I was so unhappy when I was fat, but now I'm skinny and I have a life!".

Okay, soapy moment over. I guess I should apologize to BF for loving my fat A**.

Racer, what great pictures! Thanks for sharing about HRH...I've always wondered about it--it looks beautiful!

LivinInTheCastle You look great. Besides you have a reason for having a belly, the rest of us don't. :guilty:
Shmu Sorry about the deadbeat problem. But getting all your credits applied really helps getting your degree faster. :thumbsup2
racetrack18kb Those pictures make me want to go now. :goodvibes

No comment re Letterman/ Palin..don't pay attention to what Letterman has to say. :confused3

I totally hear you on the "fat-ism" thing. I can't believe how acceptable it is to make fun of overweight people. And the whole media emphasis that you are only "desirable" if you are tall and skinny really p****s me off as a mom of 3 girls. I actually don't have a scale here right now. DD is 13 and I do not want her to be focused on her weight.

Would you believe that this past February, DH got a letter in the mail from some weight loss center. I opened it just to see what it was. Inside, it stated, wouldn't your wife be so happy if you signed her up for this as a Valentines Day present. :scared1::headache: What the h**l?! If my DH had actually thought that would be a good gift, I would have kicked his a** clear across the city.

He's been watching it on TNT Race Buddy http://www.tnt.tv/sports/nascar/racebuddy09_off/?
Loves the different shots during the race. Very cool. I think they only have it for a few more races though. :sad1: You also have to have high speed internet to get the full effect.
I'm with you on MRN. Some of the best coverage. Oh the Sunday afternoons spent listening to MRN... all hundled around the radio like in the old days.

Yes...and the weight "ism" gets me too. Why are just WOMEN the ones having a better life now that they are skinny? Why are WOMEN the ones that have to be skinny to be sexy while men can just get that beer gut, gray hair and have tons of wrinkles and women still think that's attractive????? :headache:
Makes me so mad when I hear commercials (think its for some wrinkle reducer) where this guy is saying how sexy his wife is now that she looks younger. He probably looks like he's 90 but she has to look like 20.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I'm right there with ya sister!!!!!

OMG! What nerve and stupidity of that weight loss center!

Its totally true...women have to be young and skinny forever...men, not so much. How about instead of focusing on what your woman looks like, how about asking her how she feels? Make her feel good for being a good man, not a dunder-head!

Good for you Racetrack for watching out for your girls. Let them enjoy their youth and being a young woman. I understand being concerned about health, but the standards are really wacky for what is attractive.

Heck no! Plus if hubby was expecting some activity in the bedroom, he'd be in for a rude awakening. :lmao:
Unfortunately this weight fixation is spreading to young males also. They are more fixated on muscles and not having body fat than what the scale says.

Yep, nothing like telling your wife she's fat to get those romantic thoughts flowing. :rotfl:

Well clearly we are all on the same wavelength here!

I was thinking the same things about Letterman. What a jerk. And good for Sarah Palin for calling him on it! It was blatant sexism, totally inappropriate, and just plain stupid. But that is what I would expect from him.

I had the exact same thought about fat-ism. Dealt with that my whole life! It is just amazing what people say. Helllo! I am fat, not deaf! And the whole media push for skeletal bodies makes me want to barf. I am glad my DD likes her body just fine the way it is. DS on the other hand keeps saying he needs muscles. He is SOLID muscle! Just very SMALL ones!:lmao:

Racetrack I loved your pix, both here and on FB. I am NOT bored to tears with your TR--keep it coming!!!

Well, it looks like we will not go to Universal after all. The ship doesnt dock in Port Canaveral until NOON, so by the time we got to the park it would be nearly 2 pm, and the park CLOSES at 6 or 7!!! I am SO not paying $192 for 4 or 5 hours in the park. We may just stay on the ship that day. What a stupid itinerary--you would think they would adjust their hours so that the park experience could be longer. Ahhhh well. Easy come easy go. DS said he really didnt want to go anyway.

We WILL, however, be doing the Atlantis Aquaventure in Paradise Island, Bahamas. The whole ginormous waterpark thing, plus snorkeling, sailing, etc. THAT will be a blast, as long as it isnt too chilly. I checked and the average temp is about 82, which is fine. But a couple of years its been in the 70s and you wouldnt get me in the water if it was that cold!

Travel agent called today and just by moving our room to the one next door, she got us a $100 shipboard credit! Cool! That will pay for a massage for Mommy!!!:cool1:

DS has barely put the cruise brochure down, except to sleep and to go to school today. He is more excited than I am!

Just got a call with a job offer for fall!!! :woohoo:

I finalize the deal on Thurs. and will get more details. I will be a Learning Resource Consultant 2 days per week...aka working with children w/ learning and behavior disabilities. Just had to share. :yay::hyper2:

Congrats D&D~ How awesome for you!:banana:

(I kinda think all that venting earlier today opened up good karma)

Wendy, I'd be excited for the cruise too! Sorry Universal didn't work out....but that waterpark sounds amazing!

Thanks Kitty! I think so too. I'm so excited because I was so sad to leave my last job.

SCHBR'smom...I forgot to tell you how much I love the picture of your family on the couch. Your DD--I guess DD2--is crossing her arms in the most "don't mess with me" way. Its so cute! :lovestruc

D&D...just to add to your wonderful day, thought I'd add that I received my Crocs order today. Yes! I have 4 new pairs to show you! I know you'd love that! :rotfl:

:lmao: Not even new Crocs or Racetrack's pics of Matt Kenseth will bring down my mood today. :bounce:
