Good morning! Its cloudy here too and we're expecting storms sometime today. It rained for most of last night too. June has pretty much been a bust (hee hee) this year.

Marie, that joke was awesome! I've told it to two people already. totally made my day.

M&N...that lightning story was crazy! My mother was always "shut everything off!" when we had a storm. One of my great prides as an adult was being able to watch TV despite the storm outside. I guess Mom was right!

Shmu...we missed you too!

Have a good day everyone!

Hey all:

Enjoying a quiet day...have the house to myself and just puttering away.

Debating whether I should get tix to see Earth, Wind, and Fire and Chicago this weekend. really, really want to go, but feel guilty about the money. Holding out until Friday to fully assess the economic situation. I do love their music. Have to see the weather report if I'll get lawn seats. Don't want to be flooded out!.

Last concert I went to...several years back was Crosby, Stiles & Nash, and Chicago...they were fantastic. We had gone 'cause DH is into CSN but I loved Chicago.

Hi, everyone!!

I need a little break. My DH's grandfather had all these annoying animals that sing and dance when you push a button. Well, after he died the family decided to give these to the great-grandchildren (at the time we had 4 of the greats, lucky us). DD(1) fell in love with this ridiculous chicken. It has reindeer antlers with bells on them and ear muffs :confused3 and it plays the chicken song. We've had it hidden from her for months. And, yep, you guessed it, she found it today. So it is either listen to an almost 2 yr old scream cause she wants to play with the chicken or listen to the chicken song played over and over and over.

Maybe I should make chicken for dinner tonight for revenge.

Oh, and good luck with the closets! I dread dealing with closets, also.

:lmao: Thanks for the giggle!!

Ooh...M&N said the magic word---outlets! Now we completely understand how we got into the closet chaos to begin with....

(psst...just for knowledge's sake, how far are the outlets from the hotel? :rolleyes1)

:sad1: No fair...outlet shopping and I can't make it!!

Marie--I hope this doesn't mean I am about to be a bad first time mommy, but I found the whol butt sniffer comment just to funny, and knowing me instead of shaming my kid, I'd probably just crack up. :rotfl:

I had a real hard time with the Mom's reaction to DD's finger...except for one little girl the kids all have older siblings so I'm sure it's not the first time they've seen it. Apparently it's been the new thing on the school bus for a couple of months. I had to punish DD for disobeying me, but I still felt like telling the Mom to lighten up...did she really need to tell all the other parents...it's not like Kate was passing out drugs or something really serious.

Mariezp Funny joke. :rotfl2:
LivinInTheCastle Relax..ultrasounds aren't as clear as pics. Hopefully everything will be A-OK next time. :flower3:
MagiKitty We still watch TV in thunderstorms too. Growing up in So Cal we seldom had thunderstorms. Plus all the utilities are underground here.

Regarding weight...unfortunately exercise is needed and I hate exercise. Although I try to watch what I eat, it's summer, ice cream season. :yay:

Ice cream has a season?

Winter: butter pecan
Spring: pistachio
Summer: strawberry
Fall: rocky road

I guess I do have ice cream seasons!!

Ev, I agree with you. I feel that the other mother should have brought the issue to your attention, and left it at that. Kids are kids, for goodness sakes! And in terms of flipping the bird, I get it all the time when I'm out on the road! :rotfl:

If anyone else has less-than-wonderful weather like I will this weekend, keep in mind its the free HBO/Showtime weekend for most people. I have DirecTv, and I know they're having it. Hoping for some good movies!

The kids are officially done with school today. :cool1::banana: Its been nothing but chaos all day. Now we'll start the summer activities next week. Ahhh...the lazy days of summer - NOT!
Temps have been soooo cold here lately. Only around 60s for a high. :scared: Where is summer????????

Sorry I miss the "mammory discussion". Sounds like y'all had some fun.

I love Chicago & EW&F. Haven't been to a Chicago concert in years. Was a little miffed when Peter Cetera left the group, but did like his solo stuff. Let us know if you decide to go.

I can hear my mother now...You got on Facebook because of a little pirate? :rotfl2: Well I can't help it mom...he is a funny little guy! :lmao:
Are you getting a Facebook page? :yay:

A teacher was doing a study testing the senses (taste) The children began to identify the flavors by their color:
Red......................Cherry
Yellow................Lemon
Green..................Lime
Orange...............Orange
Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers. None
Of the children could identify the taste.
The teacher said, 'I will give you all a clue. It's what your
Mother may sometimes call your father.'
One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and
Yelled, 'Oh my God! They're a**holes!
The teacher had to leave the room!
I loved that joke. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I almost hesitated to post the joke this morning but now I am glad I did since several of you enjoyed it. DH forwarded that one to me. Kinda telling what sort of jokes you get from who. My raciest jokes always seem to come from my Aunt Lucy. As you can imagine she is a real pistol!

M&N, I hope the weather was good today for your picnic!

BKMETV, glad you had a nice peaceful day! Must be nice. I seldom get those. My DD talks ALL day long and hardly ever stops. I think sometimes my head will explode! I just remind myself how lonesome I would be if she weren't her with her chatter. Lord knows it will be soon enough that she hits the teen years and she won't want to talk to me at all. For now, I guess the reason I love early mornings when everyone is still asleep is because I get to listen to a few brief moments of silence.
Sorry the mom made you feel bad. I imagine in a few days the whole ordeal will be a thing of the past. You are right though.... kids will pick stuff like that up somewhere.

DL55, I do not like exercise either! I can do the diets but getting my butt in gear for exercise is not an easy chore. I hope ice cream season isn't too rough on you! Thankfully, it is not one of my major weaknesses.

Hey Kitty, when you get paid for surveys do you usually let it add up in Paypal before transferring it? I would love to use Paypal for saving up for WDW but I just wondered if it was safe. If I put it in any other account we have it will end up going towards bills.
I agree with your ice cream flavors except for Rocky Road. I think I would throw in a Cherries, Pecans and Cream for a substitute. It goes better with my personality....fruity and nutty.

D&DDisney, yep it's too bad you weren't here last night. The conversation was quite "titillating"! You just never know what topic you will end up on!

The guys are off to Jiu-Jitsu and the airport so I gotta run. I have a date with my DD to watch a movie, "Everyone's Hero". I hope it's a good one!

 Hugs LITC! Hope you feel better! Otherwise, how is everything going?

Yeah! Everyone is checking in....

Oh, pepper, I have so much weight to lose...and to think I'm so looking forward to the meet at the chocolate capital of the world! Amd I'm planning a trip during free dining AND Food and Wine Festival. Ah, the irony...:rotfl:

But is all sounds fun anyway!

Hey TK'rs!

I have to confess I sat here and stuffed my face with kettle chips through the entire diet discussion. I really need to work on it ha ha. I was going to go walk down the boardwalk but it was raining.

HI Kitty, thanks I hope I am better soon to. I don;t think I even blew my nose this much last year when I had bronchitis and a sinus infection at the same time! At least my job provides kleenex, so I don't have to bring my own!!

I had some "worrysomne" news this week, at least to me. I went for my check up with the dr, and she said that on my last ultrasound they thought they saw a "dialated kidney" in the baby. She swears it is nothing to worry about, but you can't tell a first time mom something could be wrong with one of your lil ones organs-but not to worry. So I will be having another ultrasound to check in again in about 3 weeks. Hopefully I get better news after that. I called a friend who recently became a neo-natal nurse and she said not only has she never heard of it but never had a baby come through with it either. So that was pretty comforting. I tried googling it, but the info may as well have been in japanese it was that confusing.

I will say a special prayer for you and the baby, but I bet the Dr. is right. Like Kitty said, just stay happy and positive.
Sorry I missed the 'inspirational' discussion. I was having a thunderstorm. Did it ever bang and light up in my back yard. This after seeing on tv how lightning hit a tree near a house...traveled into the garage...blew out the doors, fried his motorcycle and power trimmer on the floor...traveled into the house and caught fire to the basement. It blew off the glass of the electric meter and I think the outlets in the house. I don't know how the house did not burn down. This was in the neighboring county yesterday. Thankfully, no one was at home.

LITC---prayers for you and baby. I am thankful for the smart, caring friends we have here too.

I can hear my mother now...You got on Facebook because of a little pirate? :rotfl2: Well I can't help it mom...he is a funny little guy! :lmao:

Wow the lightning story ha ha. :scared1:

Morning all! It's been raining cats and dogs around here....well, actually I would say more like cows and horses! Not too far from here they had some tornado activity. The good Lord was watching over us again and I just slept through most of it. I was proud to see that the panels I am putting together for my gazebo were actually still standing this morning.

Thought I would pass this on to give ya'll a laugh as you start the day....

I loved that joke. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow, the last day of school. What I can't believe is that DD graduates next Wednesday! I feel so old (I'm 40)

So I made me a Dr. Apt. for next week. The latest trick my body is pulling is swollen Ankles when I sit too long. It kinda freaks me out and I REALLY wish I had stayed away from Google. :rotfl:

Magikitty- Just wanted to tell you I have now moved on to Reese's Cups. :rotfl: Had Salt, now I need Sugar...It's a rule ya know. :rotfl:

Hi Pepper! your meal sounds wonderful to me! I totally agree with with salt with sweet comment. Any wonder why I'm my size? Ooh, I wonder if I have any PB cups around here....had some super spicy Indian food for lunch, and really the only way to cool my tongue was with some butter pecan! :rotfl:

Aw, I can't believe your DD is graduating either! And good luck with the doctor. Google knowledge is good, but remember that everyone is individual and you won't really know anything until you see the doctor.

Let me add that I will always welcome some Ben and Jerrys into my freezer.

Marie, I haven't really deal with Paypal that long, so I don't know. I kinda think that programs change, so if I have enough money to cash out, I'll do it. For example, I do mypoints for when I shop. Before, you could get a $25 gc for 2500 points. It went up to 3500 now. So I'm glad I cashed out when I did. I actually keep a separate account for my surveys and such, so it doesn't get mixed up with other money.

Mmmm' Ben and Jerry's.

What is mypoints?

My Mom thinks that my ankles doing that is the amount of salt in my diet. I am sure she is right, but I will still feel better after the Dr. The nurse that made the appt. didn't "deem it urgent" because she scheduled it for next week lol.

Mypoints is kinda like ebates. Its called a shopping portal. If you're going to buy something online, you go to mypoints first and see if they have any offers. For every dollar you spend, you get so many points for that purchase. You can also opt in to receive emails from them. You can click through each email to get five points. I usually cash out at 3500 for a $25 gc from macys, but they have all sorts of gc and denominations. I get about 5-10 emails a day, so I look at it as 50 points/day, 350/week. So every 10 weeks I can cash out for money!

Swollen ankles can be caused by so many things...including salt intake. Are you on your feet a lot during the day? Are your shoes giving you enough support? I had TERRIBLE edema when I worked overnight. So much that you could actually see the pores in my legs! It was horribly painful and just gross looking. Once I got better shoes and remembered to put my feet up, it all went away.

Wow, that sounds neat. I think I will look in to it. Do you get a bonus for referring a friend? If so I will say you referred me.

I work in an office I am up and down all day...a lot of sitting really...and wear flip flops quite often. Mine goes away when I put my feet up.

ok, let me just say as a fellow flip-flopper, flip flops are the devil! They absolutely kill your feet, offer very little support. But I love them so. I tried to be better and purchase a better pair, and they have made a difference. So, if you're an all day flip-flopper, I highly highly recommend purchasing Havianas or Ipanemas. They're far more sturdy.

But its good news that the puffiness goes away when you put your feet up. You just need to promote circulation better. Keep a tennis ball at your desk. When you have some time, put it on the floor and roll the ball with your foot. It'll help.

I don't think mypoints has a referral system. Just glad to pass some news along! Also, the gc don't expire for a year. I save them up and buy holiday gifts! You can also get food and entertainment gcs, which would be great to give out....

Wow, thanks! I am going to try the tennis ball thing. My Dr. will be so proud when I go in on Wed and say I tried this and it helped. It will probably help him!

Okay, so you guys feel free to go here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32237149&posted=1#post32237149 for a good giggle. I just made a total idiot of myself ha ha ha. :rolleyes1

pepperw23 i wouldn't have known what they were talking about either. :guilty:
Most of the time swollen ankles are fluid build up from slow circulation. I think it occurs because you are staying in one place not walking which helps the muscles push against the build up and back up into your body. That's why putting your legs up helps, it makes it easier to pump the fluid back into the body. Hopefully it's just that. The internet likes to jump to crisis mode over anything (don't google ;) )
The health section of our local news did a piece on how flip flops were bad for your feet. I need support for my arches and ankles if I have to walk or stand for a long time. Crocs and sandals just won't work for me. :sad2:

SHMU!!!!!!!! I have missed you my friend!!!!

Welcome Kimberlee! I am a Johnston too, so maybe we are related!

MK--your closet antics are cracking me up! My sister informed me today that she is bringing me 2.5 suitcases full of her clothes that dont fit her anymore but should fit me. !!! I think I am going to need a MUCH bigger closet!! I love your take on ice cream seasons. I agree that ice cream is ALWAYS in season. But my list is just vanilla, vanilla, vanilla, vanilla. What can I say, I am boring about my ice cream...

Marie and Pikester, I agree, we will have to start our own thread for displaced TKers.:lmao:

SCHBR--did you end up making chicken for dinner? I laughed my head off thinking of you listening to that thing all day!

 LITC. Praying that all is well with the baby.

M&N, our weather has been lousy too. Poor DS. He worked so long and hard to finally get a fire going for their youth group tonite. It was looking good--and then it started pouring! Needless to say, that was the end of the fire...

Marie--loved the joke!!:rotfl2:

OK, all this talk about weight and babies. I always say I gained 50 pounds with each of my kids (which I did). People say, "oh, thats not unusual". And I respond with my "yeah, but they are adopted!!":lmao: Thankfully I have shed the baby weight and then some, but I totally identify with all of you with weight issues, as I have battled them my entire life.

BTW, I have gotten no notifications for posts here, so an entire day passed between me checking in. Whats up with that? More attempts to get rid of me?:sad2:

Thanks DL55! You guys really are making me feel better. Google can really bring out the hypochondriac in me! Who knew there were so many things out there that were fatal! :scared1::scared1:

Must we talk ice cream? Ben and Jerry's? Chubby Hubby is my fav---and I don't even have a hubby! :rotfl:

Do any of you do acrylic toe nails? I guess I had never heard of anyone getting them on the toes so don't feel bad pepper---plus they really aren't permanent.

Racer goes to Daytona tomorrow! It seems like she's been gone a long time but I'm sure it feels like she just left to her.

Maybe I need to get a tennis ball for when I'm here!

Wendy, I have absolutely nothing to do with notifications. Maybe its the Dis!

It does see like Racer has been gone a long time! I get to meet her on Sunday. I am really looking forward to it. We have a big weekend planned

Tomorrow DH and I will have been married 22 years (he is calling it "black Friday ha ha), then Saturday is the company Busch Gardens outing and then Sunday I go get Ice Cream with Racer. I like fun weekends. :woohoo: My house is going to be icky by Monday though but oh well.

Wendy,

I never get email notifications for any of the threads I sub to even when I ask it to give them...bummer.

Did you go back and make sure you selected email notification?
