That is horrible M&N! I guess there are reasons why they call them killer whales. It would have been terrible to have been in the audience. Talk about something to give you nightmares. :sad2:

M&N...I just saw that report on the news! Its insane! We were just there on our last trip. The Shamu show is amazing, precisely because they animals are so large and graceful.

And yup, there is no better news on the snow front for me. Still expecting at least 18 inches....and they had a story of the winter blues and the need to indulge in carbs for comfort. So that's what is !

ooh, I just thought about that part of the Shamu show where they take a child out of the audience to pet the killer whale. can you imagine if the killer whale went bonkers then? Ack!

Did you say cruise? I wanna go...but it is a lot more expensive for just 1 in the room.
Not sure how much we are getting...depends on how it comes around as to where the line is drawn...hopefully I'm too far west and get 1-3. Going to check the news at 5.
I cancelled my hair cut for tomorrow anyway...

You need to find a friend to share the room with.

I think we've gotten atleast 18 inches of snow here! Tomorrow we are getting another storm that is bringing heavy rain. DH is making sure to clean off the roofs so that we don't have to worry about then getting to heavy.

Got on to post this...my friend just called and said it was all that was on their tv: (there's probably a thread about it going....)

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 24) - An employee at SeaWorld Orlando has died after being attacked by a killer whale.

Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman John Mulhall says paramedics were called Wednesday afternoon to the Shamu Stadium at the theme park resort where they found a worker who could not be revived.

Park guest Victoria Biniak told WKMG-TV that the trainer had just finished explaining to the audience the show they were about to see.

Biniak told the station the whale suddenly came up from the water, grabbed the trainer around the waist and "thrashed her all around" to the point the trainer's shoe fell off.

The guests were evacuated and the park was closed.

I just saw that on the news! I can't even imagine what that may have been like to witness. :sad2:

I saw that earlier too. Prayers to that woman's family.

Our old school district is already canceled for tomorrow. Not a flake has fallen yet. I'm sure our district will be canceling soon.

M&N, if I don't have to bring the family, we could always bunk up? Heck, maybe if I have to bring the family, I'll still bunk up with you. :lmao:

Hey, maybe M&N and I can share and we'll have the P-A-R-T-Y room!

School here was closed. I think they should just give up and start over again on Monday.

Just got the phone call that school is canceled for tomorrow.

MK, if you would bunk up with M&N, what am I gonna do? I might actually have to stay with my family. Oh the horrors.

ssh....we'll just hide you from them!

hehehe, you rock MK!!!

I was reading a thread earlier about a poster's daughter who wants to start shaving. Daughter is very self-conscious about it and won't even wear shorts anymore. Mom is reluctant to let her do it because she doesn't want her "baby" to grow up too fast.

This kind of stuff makes me mad. I just couldn't imagine making my kid wait because I didn't want her to grow up too fast. It's hair. And I imagine that DD6 will have to shave much sooner than I ever did. She has fairly light skin and very dark hair. And lots of it.

When I decided I needed to start shaving, I just took a razor and did it. I didn't ask my mom or anything but I think if I did, she would have just told me to do what I wanted and to be careful.

I didn't even know about shaving as a kid! My mother is just naturally hairless, so we didn't have that talk. I remember the day....the first day of sixth grade, I was waiting outside when Katie Butler looked down at my legs and told me I needed to shave. I went home that night and butchered myself, but I was basically neat and scarred the next day....

(Katie was also the girl who brought her mother's Playgirl magazine to school later that year. She was really racy for Catholic school.)

But I agree...kids are growing up faster these days, but it doesn't change the fact that she's your daughter and always will be. And its so hard to be a young lady these days! If it makes her self-conscious, the mom should take this opportunity to talk to her about it. There's going to be alot more things the daughter is going to want to do...

I just look at it as a pick your battles type of thing. In the grand scheme of things, I don't see shaving your legs as a big deal. And with all the pressures that young girls end up facing now, why keep her from a simple act (ok, it's not that simple) that will make her feel better about herself. Don't make her feel more self conscious about herself now. You don't know what the road ahead has in store.

You mean, your mom doesn't have to shave at all?

I used to be the one with playgirl magazines. Once a rebel, always a rebel. :lmao:

I remember someone telling me that my arms were too hairy. I wore LS shirts for the rest of the year. Kids can be hateful.

Pikester---you didn't shave your arms? :rotfl:
What's that lady going to do about her baby? Put a stopper in her when she starts having her period?

No thank goodness! Can you imagine that?!

My DS12 hair over his lip is starting to darken up. I can't believe he's getting old enough for that!

Pikester, you are exactly right about kids being hateful. And that's what I'd be really worried about.

M&N, what if her daughter is one of those girls who happens to get it very young? I could just picture the thread in the next couple of years.

Neither my mother or my SIL have to shave their legs or underarms....no one else got that gene! The rest of us have to shave...

My mother doesn't have to shave either. I think she has like 3 little tiny hairs in each of her pits and I think she shaves her legs twice a year. Must be nice!

What the heck?? That is so not fair. I hate shaving!!! Unfortunately, I have shave almost daily.
