I think they think they reach more people separating the races? I do like the smaller tracks. Maybe since they cannot fill the large tracks, they'll go back. The Phillies could not fill Vet Stadium with 60,000 people but are sold out at 45,000---of course they are playing better too!

If they had the races together, too many cup guys would do Nationwide.

My uncle from NC said many there are getting fed up with nascar now and support local races more.

I don't know if they reach more people by separating the races. I keep thinking of the people that travel to the Cup races would also go to the Nationwide race if it were at/or close to the same place. I think the Nazareth race was Mother's Day weekend but Pocono race wasn't until the beginning of June. As much as I liked watching the Nationwide race, at that close together, I would pick the Cup race.

Nascar is getting to political/bureaucratic lately. Let the boys race and say what they want. You get wrecked and don't want to talk to reporters, so be it. But now they have to talk right away or risk being fined.

Add in that all the cars have to be the same. Bull.....let them build the best car they can and drive the best that they can without being fined for every little thing.

I won't discuss Philly fans in general. I think most of them are idiots. They only like the teams when they are doing good and otherwise, all they do is trash talk. I miss the days when you like a team through thick and thin. But those days seem to be long gone for the most part.

One more thing, if Nascar would lower their prices a little, I bet they could start selling out the tracks.

I'm one of the Phillie fans from the mostly loose era. But what turned me from baseball and I guess pro sports in general is money. The players do not have loyality to a team anymore either...big bucks is what they are after. It used to be you played for a team for years. I think nascar is getting the same way...changing team is becoming the norm now. I think it was Larry McReynolds that said you should be able to look at a car and tell if it's a Ford or Chevy---you cannot now. I also think they are letting the drivers go at it to make rivalries to get the fans going and hopefully more excited.

Money is definitely a big factor. I use to be a big baseball, football, etc fan. I knew all the players because they played for the same team almost all their career. Think Mike Schmidt/Steve Carlton. But now it's all about who will pay them the most for the next season. And then the season after that.

Can't tell the cars apart and can't even identify the drivers by their sponsors anymore. I'm starting to think it's less about the good racing and more about the ratings. And I will go out and say, Kyle will never be told to change when he acts like a big baby. People will watch just to see what he will do...much like Tony years ago. As long as he brings in the numbers, they won't ever do anything serious to him.

I think Kyle was told he need to think before he spouts off...he does seem a little better that way. But I think the drivers are a lot more real than other athletes. They get a mic stuffed in front of them after a wreck or anything...football players or others do not have to go through that kind of thing.
I think nascar loves having the fans boo Kyle or cheer another...that's why they are letting them drive rougher now...plus it gives more wrecks and more cautions!

Hey---it's 1:30...must get to bed. I have to get mom and take her to get her hair done. I don't want her out getting the bus in this heat. I'm picking up my friend's mom to go along and we'll eat lunch out. Night...

You have a very good point. Drama breeds ratings. Ratings breed money.

Telling him to tone it down is much different than actually "punishing" him.

Basically, no matter who the driver is, it all boils down to ratings. Whomever and whatever can bring in the biggest ratings right now, is what it's all about.

As athletes, I think the drivers are the best. They are just more "real" to me. Most of them seem to be normal guys if that makes any sense.

I need to get to bed. I know Alexis will be up early and so will MIL. I have to make the coffee.

Have a good one. And if your friend has any pizza place recommendations in Orlando, pass them along.

Good Morning!

My ya'll were chatty last night! I last posted on page 212, now its on 216. We'll need a new name in no time.

I was forced to get up much too early this morning. Screaming from my two littlest girls room. Mommie wants to sleep past 6:30. As soon as they change rooms, they'll be farther away. Maybe they'll be easier to sleep through.

Good morning to you!

So tired of this weather! I think it's all finally catching up with me. My stomach is feeling yucky, I feel tired and I just want to cry. I'm sick of being lazy because I get too sweaty when I clean and I just don't feel like going for a walk today which makes me cranky because I really want to keep it going. Every little thing is getting on my nerves. I yelled at the kids over stupid stuff this morning, was late getting them to day camp and for some reason I'm getting peed off over my spelling errors that I don't notice until many posts later. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Now, how is the morning going for you ladies? I see that Kerrie has been up for a while.

Oh, Pike, I'm sorry for the rough morning. We're usually crazy hot in the summer, but right now its lots of rain. I'm used to the heat, but its hard keeping the kids in with all this rain.

I'm not sure if it's there yet, but a new tropical storm is supposed to be named this morning. It will be Bonnie, which I love because I have a little Bonnie. :cloud9: Unfortunately, it's heading right where Hurricane Alex hit. :sad2: I feel so bad for the people of southern Texas and northern Mexico. The Rio Grande is the highest its been since 1965 and will now get more rain. All these tropical systems are bringing moisture in to the rest of Texas. 90% chance of rain all day. It's already raining.

Hello ladies! It's only 87 here. I may have to go put on a jacket.

Pikester, I hear you about being lazy when it's hot. It took all I had yesterday to carry out suitcases outside and clean and air them out. We had stuck them in basement when we moved in and with the pipe problem, they had a damp/musty smell.

And what spelling mistakes? I never noticed any.

Kerrie, I haven't been following the weather reports too much lately. It's just terrible if they get hit again. Besides being tired, how are you feeling?

Good morning everyone!
I like "TKers- 8 is not enough" :thumbsup2

As long as the storms only get to tropical storm level , I like the storms that hit northern Mexico 'cause then we get more rain.

Any one want a gray kitty? My little terror ran over me on the bed now I have a 3 inch bloody scratch on the bottom of my foot. :headache: It stopped hurting and I did go for my walk but I'm still annoyed at that darn cat.

D&DDisney Hopefully your children will get back to normal with your reassurances.

Afternoon ladies! its still freakin hot here! Sorry to hear about your rough morning, Pike. The weather has put me in an awful mood too. It just seems that everything is so much more difficult to do.

The other evenings, I was ravenous. Seriously, BF and I were considering if I had a tapeworm or something. And all I wanted to eat was french bread with butter. Couldn't get enough of it. So, we were worried a little bit. But it was my monthly that arrived, not the patter of little feet. I'll admit, I was both relieved and disappointed.

DL...its so hot here all the cats do is lie around. Its kinda funny. It looks like a kitty re-enactment of the Godfather. There's just furry bodies everywhere!

Oh! And let the games begin! Big Brother is on tonight! Its up against Wipeout, so I"m torn between which trashy tv to watch....but I think BB will win on this one.

I got my Walter votes in...also my nascar selections.

It's so humid and hazy here! Hope we get rain...there's a warning up I think and it is getting dark.

Thanks for the BB remender Kitty. I like to get in on the beginning so I can pick the bad guys out!

JO--will you be near 192? Smokey Bones is on that. The 2 pizza places are not in that direction. One is near Sea World. Not sure where Red Brick Oven is...forget name of road...maybe John Young Parkway. It's in a shopping area called the Loop. I get confused going so many different ways. Bahama Breeze is run by the company for Olive Garden and Red Lobster. You can sign up for email coupons from them too.

Its gotten dark out there and I'm hoping for some relief from the oppressive heat. I think that's what has made this heat wave that unbearable...its been so still, no air movement whatsoever. Even sitting with the windows open offers no relief (I dont have central air). In the rooms I do have AC, I have to battle the kitties for a prime spot!

M&N...the talk about coupons just warms my heart.

Wow! There has been some chitter chatter going on around here since I last posted! Ya'll must be trying to work up to that 8th thread ASAP! I like TKERS..... 8 Isn't Enough!

D&D, so glad you are getting repairs done on the house and car. Sending more hugs for you and the kids. Nightmares are no fun! Made me tear up just reading about your poor son.

Jo, good job teaching Jackie so that she does NOT want to wear those skimpy clothes! And, even better showing her how to distress her jeans herself! What a cool idea!
Thanks for contacting me about Swagbucks! I can use all the help I can get! I ran across something today that might help us both out! Check it out.... http://www.couponingtodisney.com/2010/07/08/how-to-earn-with-swag-bucks-2/ I just love this girls site! She offers lots of tips for saving and planning for those vacations. Great tips about WDW and DL too!
I tried Mypoints briefly once but it just didn't float my boat. I've been piddling at Quickrewards doing surveys and such and have made a few dollars there. You might see if they have anything of interest for you.
Glad you figured out where you are going to stay on your trip. The townhome sounds like it should have everything you need. So now where do I go to see the pictures?
You should be able to finds lots of food coupons here and there. I just thought of something! If it would be of any use PM me your address and I can send you my Entertainment book that is still good until November. I need to keep my card in case I need it for Airline tickets even though I never had anyone ask me for it anyway. I think I only used a handful of coupons out of the whole book.

Kitty, retailmenot.com is one of my favorites for finds coupon codes!

Welcome back DL55! Glad you were able to miss the flooding! We ended up traveling in a RV during a hurricane one year. Let's just say that it added some excitement to our trip!
Motor homes can be a good way to travel but they do seem to require a bit of maintenance from time to time. I hope you didn't find out about the leak in the middle of the night.
I do remember Who's on First!

Kerrie, oh boy! I bet you can't wait to find out who to be expecting.

LITC, Walter's racking up votes! I'm doing so good! I have remembered to go vote everyday so far! If you only knew how bad my memory was you would know how good that was for me.
OMG! THat boy takes the most amazing pictures! He is cuter ever time I see him....as if that were possible.

M&N, must be fun to have HP to visit often. I need to check it out one of these days.

Lilmiss, you better watch out! It would be the perfect time for the tagfairy to pop up and then you might become known forever as the teenage TKER zit! We would understand around here but some other folks on the DIS might kinda wonder about you!
Fun, fun, fun making those ADRS. We went to 50's Prime Time on our trip in December and enjoyed it very much.

Pikester, hope you feel better soon. I also hope you get a bit more understanding when you feel bad than I do around here.
When I told DH my tummy felt bad his response was that he had had it already... which is his typical response to always outdo me. Well, he called from work this morning and asked what my symptoms had been. When I got through he said that he must be getting what I had so obviously he had not already had the same thing. Needless to say, he is home from work this evening and feeling quite bad... probably much worse than I did.

Speaking of DH, he has been working w/his airplane insurance agent and it looks like he will just take the settlement on the plane, strip out some of the equipment and sell the rest for scrap. Didn't look like it would have been that much damage to me but then again I guess you do not want any flaws whatsoever when you are flying thousands of feet in the sky. Anyway, he's not too upset. Looks like he will come out well enough to upgrade to a different plane. He's been wanting to do that for awhile now so maybe it was a blessing somehow.

Gotta run and head out into the flood to take DS to Jiu-Jitsu class and go get my hair cut. Wish me luck!

Great link LITC! Aashirawad is the Indian place I ate at. Its really small, but they're really nice and the food was fantastic.

I've eaten at Bahama Breeze and Cafe Tu Tu tango too.
