Daddy's doing really well--they may actually let him go home tomorrow if the roads are passable! He had Chicken Parmesan for lunch, got a little nauseious, but not too bad. He's been up walking and sitting in the chair. Blood sugars are not too bad, but he's looking forward to getting off the steroids so he can stop all the sugar free stuff.

We're all having a laptop-fest again, and watching the snow fall. It's actually really pretty. We look out over a really nice dorm building at University of PA--has to be over 100 years old and I just love the architectural style! It looks even nicer with the snow trimming all the stonework.

:cool1: Someone's getting snow and it's not me!! Sun shining for the second day in a row. Looks beautiful with all the snow. We managed to put together the kid's hockey net, so the kids were outside playing...for a short while. Better get my trifle finished and the baked beans started. Talk to you later.

whgrn Sounds like your family got the best Christmas present ever!

mariezp I have slippers like that but they are brown and my legs aren't so hairy. :rotfl2:

My DH gave me the Harry Potter book series. I told him I had to research before we went to the WWofHP at IOA. ;)

A sunny 54 today.

Afternoon ladies....the snow has just started here. The forecasts keep changing. The snow is the wet heavy stuff. Ugh. There's not much I can do about it though except cope.

Marie...I love the slippers! I got slipper booties myself that are fuzzy too...

Kathy...you're going to love it! Just be ready to sit, sit, sit down! That's thousands of pages ahead of you! maybe you should cheat a little and watch the movies.

Glad everyone has a good holiday and is safe at home!

Wait, its supposed to be warm next weekend?

I guess we won't be hearing from Kathy for a while. Not that the HP books are so difficult to read but...sooo many pages. I liked to tease the kids in library when they took them out that strong muscles were needed to read them! I only read the first 2...I know, bad librarian! So many books, so little time!

We are getting snow now too. It's white in the mulch but not the grass. But looking at the map, I am on the western edge...not complaining though.

The Eagles game was cancelled for tonight...maybe they will keep him longer Wendy. They are even cancelling the trains.

You know its going to be bad if the NFL cancels a game! That's going to lose millions!

My cousin is thoroughly freaking out. The idea of 12 inches of snow overnight is rockin his world. hee hee...

I read all the HP books but I read them as they came out, so I had a year's respite between volumes. Sitting down to read them at once is a huge ordeal!

When does your cousin leave? Put him on shovel patrol!

I am a little disappointed we are not getting more but I'll get over it! :rotfl:
winter isn't over yet!

He's going down to the city on Tuesday, he leaves the East Coast on the second.

I'm actually quite excited to put him out with a shovel. We were out last week and he was complaining how cold it was in the parking lot. I just had a sweatshirt on. Wimp.

We'e been so lucky so far with winter. It was only a matter of time before we got walloped. I do hope the weekend of the 15th is ok though, I have a baby shower to attend in Rochester, near my sister. My friends who have been approved to pick up their newly adopted daughter is being thrown a shower before they leave to get her in February.

M...are you still here? Looks like we may have to start the new thread sometime soon. Will you be around to help send out the call? Tonight may be a good night since a lot of us are snowed in and plugged in...

MK that's so cool!!! My friends threw me an impromptu shower the day before we flew to Russia to get DD. My sister threw one at my house a week after we got home--I was totally surprised! Where is their new daughter coming from?

Snowing like crazy here in Phil. DS told me they have "about a foot" at home, but they actually only have about 2-3 inches. :rotfl:

They're adopting from the Philippines. Zhia will be 18 months old when she arrives here. ITs so very exciting and we're so happy for them! But Rochester in February will be quite a change!

That's awesome! DD was 18 months when she came home too, but was the size of a 9 month old. And yes, it will be QUITE an adjustment to winter in Rochester from the Phils! Congrats to your friends!!:yay:

I'm back on Kitty.

That's exciting for the new baby. Everyone needs to get warm things for her! I'm sure it will be an adjustment. How old will she be?

I do hope that weekend will be good too. Mom will be 80 on the 14th. I want to have a surprise party for her on the 15th. I need to round up the guests and do not want bad weather. I have Hotel Hershey booked for 10 of us...didn't ask 10 people yet though! :lmao:

I saw on the news JO only has .5 in of snow. I thought she would have more. My grass is covered this time. I do not think we are getting as much as they thought at first.

I just peeped outside and we've gotten a few inches, but its so wet and heavy its sure to become ice overnight.

M..next year can we check out Hotel Hershey? I saw it once on the Travel Channel and it looks so beautiful. And God Bless your Mother--and another 80 years more! Happy birthday in advance Mom!

My friends were notified of their baby a few weeks ago so I'm sure they've been prepping! There is a registry that I'm going to consult. I'm also going to try to bring some Filipino food, things that she will at least recognize....

I keep saying that we need to do the lunch buffet at Hotel Hershey. It's $23 but very good.I had a surprise party for mom there when she was 75...I hope to ask different people. There are not many people she knows that I know anymore. Plus several could not get there themselves. I hope a few of you would be so kind as to help out with a card shower for her.

The grass is barely covered and it does not look like it's snowing anymore.

Thanks Pikester...I pmed her address. I think turning 80 is special. She sets up her cards on the table when she gets them so I thought getting a few more would be a thrill for her.

M...that's a great idea! I'm on board! How fun....

Congratulations to your friends Magi! This is going to be a big change for your friends. Welcome but big.

Weatherman says that we are going to get 8-12 inches of snow from now until tomorrow afternoon. Not sure how certain that is so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what we get tomorrow.

I like getting the snow in the daylight so I can watch it pile up! Now you just get up and get mad at all the work you have! :rotfl:

FB will not let me post tonight...didn't look too busy there anyway but I feel unfriendly to those there!

Starting the new one here tonight Kitty?
