DVC Chit Chat Thread

Next time I go to the Times Square M&Ms Store (or Disney Store) I'm staying here!

I thought maybe that was from The Incredibles or something else… my reverse image search turned up:

(AI Overview)

This image is a concept painting of a proposed, but never built, Disney Vacation Club resort in New York City.
  • Location: The project was planned for 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan.
  • Design: It was designed by renowned architect Michael Graves.
  • Status: Although officially announced in 2001, the project was canceled shortly after the September 11 attacks.
  • Details: The design featured a tall, thin tower alongside a mixed-use entertainment and dining complex

I would love to stay there! ❤️ Even if I had to spend VGF 1BR points haha

I do! I collect pins and mugs. Maybe I will post some pics later. I really should cut back since the cost adds up.

I had to stop collecting because of space limitations. One thing, I don't buy the made in china mugs because now the design wears off.
Last mugs I collected were from the Tea Shop in Epcot in the UK. Over a couple of trips I bought 6 of the Dunoon bone china mugs and use them all the time for my afternoon tea. I went back to see if they had any more designs and they were gone. I'll keep watching as it's fun to come home with 'something'.

Pins - stopped collecting years ago but I have a few hundred of those, to include the DVC pins they used to give away.
Occasionally I'll buy a requested item for a friend who likes stuff like hoodies or tshirts.

Edit: I forgot about my Dooney bags. When they first came out with the sketch pattern I bought 3. Over time I've collected a few more but I've now stopped as I'm rarely carrying a bag anymore. Those 20% ap discounts came in handy.

The DVC merch gets me every time. A new mug, pin, sweatshirt, Christmas ornament, etc. I also love the art prints. The more recent Disney home collection items are so good.

I am a DL local and go several times a month so really have to restrain myself.

Fortunately I am not a massive fan of most Disney apparel, which helps keep costs down!
Dang! I'm now remembering all the ways I find to spend money at Disney!

Christmas ornaments - this year I bought 2 of the glass 'bird' ornaments in Germany. One was over $40 with tax. The other was $20, and I didn't even use ornaments on 2025's tree. Maybe next year. I was having the grandchildren for a few days so we decorated with small plush characters and the Disney train set underneath that I hadn't used in years. They loved decorating.

I sincerely hope I'm not forgetting more stuff but I am. Towels, small throws, Disney themed dishes. I still have (2) 4 piece sets - one is Mickey, and the other is my favorite. It's the Winnie the Pooh set, the same one that was on the wall on the left as you entered into the Main Street Bakery before it became Starbucks.

They’re older, 10, 15,18 and 21.

That would nix the cabin for me. Maybe 2 cabins next to each other. I can deal with a studio with two people or with extra little kids but the cabin bedroom is too close quarters. The bunks are so close to the bed - yikes for older people. I stayed there right after it opened. Loved it overall but not squished in.

Also, the BW two bedroom was tight for 6 adults for a week when we stayed there. I gave up the king bed to my brother and his wife and that was the only reasonable space. Just having two baths was a sacrifice. A third bath would have made it better. Still it was a great trip and a one of a kind gathering - probably won't happen again with the same people due to ages. Now, thanksgiving upcoming this fall - two bedroom is perfect at Hilton Head. It's all about ages and also dining table. The BWV table is not great with those awkward chairs. And I'm talking just breakfast.
